  • Sounds you like

I like some weird sounds, or least sounds not very many people like.

Dogs barking relaxes me for some reason. Also freeway sounds. Not like a small town highway, but a busy urban freeway.

I like trains and traffic....I used to live with a railway not far away (London, so a busy one) and a busy road out front. I'd ignore it and it would just be in the background, almost soothing. The husband hated it whenever he visited, as he couldn't tune the noise out!

I like strong wind through trees as well - it makes me think of the sea, and is such a warm and powerful noise. I love standing under them and just listening.
I speak English, L33t, Sarcasm and basic Idiot.

Air rushing past my ears as I plummet towards the earth at 120+ mph.

      Bacon sizzling in the pan.

A beer bottle's "bpst" when you open it.

The sound of my bike's derailleur shifting into its top gear.

The sound of my car's engine revving as I accelerate stupidly through traffic.

The sound of laughter and good times in a crowded bar.

The guitar riff from Pink Floyd's "Mother."

Train in the distance.... k-chunk, k-chunk, k-chunk, k-chunk as the wheels go over the gaps in the track. Brings backs memories of being a kid, we lived about a mile away from the railway, but at night the sound carried perfectly.
There's no such thing as a stupid question... just stupid people.

I like the sound of the pump in my espresso/cappuccino machine. It means chocolately mocha goodness is on the way.

The sound of rain falling, of a water fall. Of a fountain, of a rushing river. The sound of children laughing, of puppies growling. The stillness right before a storm. Of thunder crashing. Of a lovers heartbeat, of a gentle (or happy) sigh. Of an ice cream truck (for about a minute then it gets annoying). Of birds singing, of a clear bell ringing. Music (depending of course) of all kinds.

There is so much beauty in the world, sound or otherwise, that this list could go on until the end of time.

I like the sound of Mytical's slight southern drawl. Also, my mother's laugh.

All good choices [I grew up a block from a railroad line =)]

Add the slap of waves against a hull, the rumble of a thunderstorm and rain on the side of the house [as long as I don't have to go out in the storm!] and the snore of a purring cat sleeping with me for 'naptime'

Cello music (I used to play one as a kid.)
                        My mom singing
                        Thunder
                        Humpback whale songs
The sound of train wheels on tracks (We once lived in a house that had train tracks about fifty or so feet from the back of the house. It was real soothing at night.)

                          Wolves howling

Rain (mild or torrential, it's fine by me, LOL)

                          Thunderstorms

Wind in the trees. I never realized how beautiful it was until one of my last apartments: ground floor that looked out on other people's back yards ... and I'd go to sleep every night and wake every morning to the wind sighing through the trees. Would love to find a place to live in again that offered that ...

The rumble of trains passing or the wail of train horn

Running water (a brook, lakeside, oceanside, etc.)

Weird Al singing "The Saga Begins"

Never heard the NASA recordings of stars and planets, Ratha; I'll have to check that out!

Food Lady: anything involving chocolate is music to my ears, LOL

                            Cats purring.
Wind chimes...the deep-toned ones that sound almost like church bells.
Cars passing on a rainy street.
                            Cardinals singing.
                            Parakeets whistling and tootling.
                            Coffee perking.
The click of my laptop keys.

And..years ago when we had a gas-fired stove that heated the living room & dining room, the sounds it made when the heat was on...flames dancing against metal, the metal itself expanding and contracting with the heat....was very soothing to hear at night.

And there were 2 cottonwood trees about 4 houses away from ours, that were very full and very tall. In the summer, the sound of the branches moving in the wind was like the sound of surf. I loved it. I was very sad when the the trees were cut down a few years before we moved.
