  • Make Up Your Effin Mind!

Lovely how I forgot this bit:

Customer comes in with a couple of items. I was at the cosmetic counter so I wasn't entirely too busy. She decided she wanted to purchase just one item. Then after the purchase she wanted a refund. Then after I start doing the refund for her, she decides she wants that and the other item. She kept apologizing, but they meant nothing to me anyways since it felt forced. And kept trying to have an attitude with me .

Reminds me of this woman that frequents a particular store in my mall. She's a bit of a klepto and also an impulse buyer. She'll buy a bunch of stuff, return it an hour later to trade for other stuff, trade it in a couple more times, then finally decide she wants a refund. For some reason they won't ban her, and it drives their sales numbers for the day into the toilet.

How annoying. This is why I always go through my items before going to the checkout. I make sure that I want/need everything and that the total will fit into what I can spend. Some people that I shop with get frustrated that I don't grab items and go but I would be so embarrassed to be the person holding up the line or cashier making last minute changes and leaving the cashier with items to be put back.

Oh man, thats a daily thing for me. Theres one lady that comes in twice a week, Buys stuff, then produces last weeks receipt and wants all the prices changed to the current sales price. Then returns half of what she just bought, then wants to re buy it with expired coupons. and the best part? MY BOSS SAYS ITS FINE.

Yeah, I feel you on that, we get people that do that all the time, or the ones that have no idea how much money they are carrying, so then they bank on lying about how much they seen in priced for. I also love the people that can't simply take a basket or cart we lovingly provide, they decide to bring everything they can carry to the counter, and then go on to tell us, " oh, I am not done yet, i'll be right back" Yeah, as soon as they walk clear across the other side of the store, while a line builds up behind them and I look like an Ahole, and if i void her transaction and rering it, then i have to fill out a void slip right then and there.

I don't know about you, but I have gotten close to the point where i just wanted to say " YOU KNOW WHAT NO", " NO, I am not ringing you up unless you are sure what you want, and if you do this again, good luck finding someone to ring you up today, because I am the only cashier on rignt now, or who can open a drawer."

          I have been soo tempted

Perhaps the next time they come in and are checking out, you can simply tell them, "Due to constant abuse of our system, you are not allowed any further returns. All sales are final."

Get the manager's permission first, and get it in writing. That way, the boss can't throw you under the bus rather than lose this "good" customer.
I don't have an attitude problem. You have a perception problem.

In the world of a certain big-box retailer with stores all across the US.

It's why I do business with them as little as possible. That, and I don't really care for their stuff anyway.

Because they have a presence in my fair city, the shoppers at my store expect our return policies to be as liberal.

And you know what? They largely are. Bought something a week ago and now it's on sale for a lower price? Bring in your receipt for a price adjustment. We will gladly give it to you. Bought $50 worth of stuff so you could use a loyalty coupon and then returned a $15 item off that purchase? Demand you get your coupon back, since you technically only spent $35. We will give the coupon back, because we aren't about to lose a customer over $15.
