  • Not What I Needed

Today I went back to work from my week vacation. For only 2 hours. Went to the ER and found out I have an Ovarian Cyst bigger than a golf ball . Gotta call a gyno tomorrow to see if they can get me in. Gonna have to take it easy.

oOOoo you have my sympathy [and the virtual painkiller of your choice] and good luck getting in to see the doc!

        Eek. That's gotta be scary.

Hopefully you don't end up like my aunt, who was diagnosed with a growth the size of a softball, but was found to be the size of a pineapple when it was actually removed.

Then again, she did lose five pounds from removal of the growth itself, and the surgery went without a hitch, so maybe that's not such a bad thing.

I'm hoping things will be ok. I have been feeling some pain for a couple of days. Actually for some time. I thought it had to deal with a groin injury I had last year. Nope...

What I find ironic is that my roommate has Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I am very regular in my periods, and pretty damn healthy despite my lifestyle and weight. I'm the one that gets the cyst. Me and her laughed about that.

One of my closer friends was just diagnosed with a hemorrhagic ovarian cyst. She felt really bad pain about two weeks ago and started bleeding, and the bleeding has gotten pretty bad a few times. She was trying to call the gyno that the ER recommended to follow up, but apparently she kept getting their voicemail.

I just tried calling the gyno, they told me to see an "on-call" physician and not a someone who is actually experienced in this matter. I might try my roommate's OBGYN to see if they say differently. But I am so ticked off its not even funny.

I wish you were in CT, I could hook you up with the high risk/oncology GYN at Yale-New Haven. Excellent surgeon. Actually, he is also one of the professors at Yale Medical.

Here's hoping you can see a doctor and get the treatments you need.

Don't know how much truth there is to the stereotype about doctors, but I'd recommend trying to avoid a Wednesday appointment.

So far the pain has gotten a bit better. My bosses are very understanding. Gotta call this week my roomies OBGYN. Hopefully the receptionist isn't as much of a bitch as the one refered to me.

*hugs* Hope you get better soon, and if there is surgery it is quick and painless.
