  • Wherein I call in sick and my cat gives me hell

So, a couple of days ago was not my best day and I had to call in sick to work. My cat gets very VERY upset when I am not well and basically crawls on me, taps her paws on my face and scolds me all at the same time. So today when I got in my manager played the voicemail I had left for him. It was pretty awesome Me: Hey, it's Lizard Queen, I'm really sorry but (meow mwow MEOOOOW) I'm not going to be able to come in today (meow??? Meow meowmeowwwwww????!!!!!) (trying very hard to finish my message before I throw up)So-I'm-Really-sorry-hopefully(MEOW!) I-will-be-better-tomorrow-bye! gag-spit- "]BROEW???? MEOOOOOOOW!!!! meow. Meowmeowmeow[/FONT]) I don't know if she is worried about me or worried I will not have money for Temptations.

Sorry, I'm also laughing at that.

I, also, hope you get well soon.

Ha! Yes, I know what you mean, although my kitty's "oh no! The giver of treats and ears rubs is leaking fluids and moaning a lot! I am very concerned!" -type meows are very different from the "um...yeah...get your giant human ass out of bed NOW and feed me poste-haste" type-meows.

I have to also apologize for laughing but your writeup is hilarious. I've got one like that who seems to have just discovered his voice, despite the fact he's 7 or 8 years old ...

              Hope you're feeling better!

That is hilarious. I hope the humor in it helps you feel a bit better. At least the cat cares. I think.

That's very cute of your cat. =) One of ours talks to us quite a bit, generally when we're in the kitchen. He's spending the whole time making rubbing motions with his head and talking to us about how he's such a poor, hungry kitty and couldn't you just drop that nice piece of meat in his mouth...

                    That was hilarious.

Our fuzzbuckets tend to simply crawl all over us and sleep on us if we're sick. It's more like the "OK, you're unwell, we'll act as a hot water bottle" type thing.

AS for their meows, they have the "we want to go outside, let us out human" type meows, as well as the "My Sacred Offering Bowl is empty, fill it now human!" type meow. It's more hilarious for the second one, because the younger cat will sit there patiently, meowing his head off, while the other will jump on the counter, crawl over and try to eat his dinner while mum's sticking it in the bowl.

She realizes that I spend some days at my desk and some days sitting in bed, so she doesn't get all concerned at me being apparently sick but if I am laying down in bed covered up in the middle of the day she gets worried.

She also has a sense of time. She romps in just before 5 am when the alarm is getting ready to go off so she can insinuate herself between us because she always gets some temptations treats first thing in the morning for hairballs, and then she goes and sits in front of the door around 6 because Rob is coming home around then. And last thing in the evening she will trot in following Rob like a puppy because she gets her other type of temptations at bedtime =)

Aren't the little hairkids the best? It's truly mind blowing what great company they can be. When I first separated with my ex husband and thought I would die of sadness my little Hitch kept me going. Although you know what didn't help? When I was living in kind of a shady area for a few months and already feeling pretty jumpy and she started stopping dead, staring right over my shouldder and then racing out of the room with her hair poofed out like a maniac. Little turd.

I would be willing to give it a shot, but first I have to see if my manager cleared his voicemail yesterday (the way we are supposed to). He may have held onto it, just for the embarassment factor.

Oh I would LOVE to hear that voicemail if it works out.

My girl kitty is already a clingy baby as it is and meows constantly for whatever reason. But if you are sick she knows it, and if you lay down on that couch at all shes' ON you ...sitting on your hip usually.

I haven't had my kitten long enough to have been sick around him. The older cat just wants to cuddle, regardless of health.
The younger, Tesla, guards me in the shower though. He sits on the edge and watches. If I'm shaving my legs, he puts a paw on my knee and stands up to see what I'm doing. I'm just grateful he outgrew being a leg climber. That one time he tried in the shower was exceptionally painful.
