So this is happening pretty much as we speak.
B/G. BF has 3 kids, two boys, one girl. Girl is 9.

Girl lies at times, I think it's a trait learned from her mother. Not a lot I can do about that she that's where she is mostly. When confronted with serious consequences and punishment she fesses up. But there's no tell when she lies, she'll make a great poker player. Girl is also very crow or myna bird like. She see something shiny lying on the ground she picks it up. Flowers, rocks, ribbon, marbles. A couple years ago during the summer she was walking around and brought home a bong. Because it was cute and pink. She thought it was a vase or something. It's all generally harmless and funny sometimes. And aggravating when it's time to clean room.

I don't know the whole story yet, but she came home (to my house) right after school today. That's what my bf said.

About 10 minutes ago her mom calls up saying the cops are over there because Girl took something off a ladies mailbox. A flower or something and moms bf found it under girl's bed.
Apparently it happened today. Apparently the lady saw a little blond girl take the thing off the mailbox. So she called the cops.
What bf was trying to get out of his ex is what time it happened, but she not rational and didn't get anything out of her.
She talked to girl, girl kept denying it, and on to crying.
So bf left just now with girl in tow to go over to her moms to figure out what exactly is going on.
She could not have done it after school because it's not on the way to my house. There's also a couple other blond girls that live on that road.

    That's my evening so far!

Poor kid. Of course if you catch her lying she needs consequences, but it's wrong to jump the gun and accuse her of something before anyone knows the full story. Sounds like her mom needs to calm down and your BF is doing the right thing to find out what really happened.

So she left school before she was supposed to? Or the flower found under her bed isn't what was on the mailbox?

School here are locked down better than Fort Knox. seriously. Kids can't leave early.
        so here's what happened.
It was apparently a fake flower arrangement attached to the mailbox with fake vines and a brick.
Mailbox lady lives on a street between the school and ex-wife's house. The incident in question happened yesterday morning before school. Mailbox lady sees a blond girl tugging at the arrangement, sees something fall and watches the blond girl walk off.
Our Blondie rode her bike yesterday. Mailbox lady didn't see a bike.
Eye witness #2: Woman who walks her kid to school everyday says she saw our Blondie on her bike with some thing wrapped around the handlebars.

After, what I assume, was some more grilling from both parents Blondie admits to hiding the thing because her mom gets pissed when she brings home trash people leave out. But Blondie only found the vines, no flowers. Since the vines were on the side of the road she figured that someone was throwing it away. Our Blondie did not find the flower part. Like I said, she's like a crow.

        1. BF took her over to mailbox ladies house to say sorry, she couldn't 100% identify her. Plus the bike thing.
        2. There are SEVERAL blond girls that live in that area that also walk to school.
        3. They wouldn't have been able to charge her with anything anyways. Why? She's not 10 yet.
        4. Lady said she called the cops because she "lives on a fixed income and sells them [the flower things]."

Kids used to take recess as an opportunity to slip through the fence. I do imagine it's harder these days lol

Even if the lady didn't sell them, she can still call the cops. It's her property. As for the bike, who knows. She could have righted it close by, walked over, picked it up and then walked back to her bike. I mean, she did pick it up at some point. Unless some sort of ride and swoop?

It's a pretty big coincidence that she happens to pick up the object another similar blonde girl broke off, but stranger things have happened. Maybe she'll take it as a lesson to not picking up stuff that isn't hers? Especially since she had a run in with the cops. Can't imagine the vine got too far from the mailbox over the course of the day. Might need to learn what boundaries are.

Though if the darn thing was so important, why didn't that lady get out of the house and go pick it up as soon as she saw it fell? o_O

That's what I thought, or yell at the first kid?
I figure she assumed it was trash because around here it's very common for people to just put whatever it is at the curb and expect someone to take it.

OK, I call B.S. on the lady. She may indeed make these flower arrangements for money, but what does that have to do with one that was ATTACHED TO HER MAILBOX? She obviously wasn't planning to sell that one!

I would be annoyed, too, if someone took decorative items off of my property, but I wouldn't call the cops on a little girl! I'd just make sure the next thing I put on the mailbox was a lot harder to remove.
When you start at zero, everything's progress.
