  • State Fair!

It's that time of year again!

Dropped off 3 quilts last week and went today to eat everything fried and see how my quilts did.

And yes I took pictures before I dropped them off.

This quilt: http://s89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...t=IMG_2102.jpg placed 6th in a big group.

This quilt: http://s89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...t=IMG_2503.jpg placed 2nd in the baby quilt group.

This quilt: http://s89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...t=IMG_2434.jpg placed 2nd in a group I've never entered before.

So I am both honored and humbled. I've been squealing like a schoolgirl ever since I found out.

And the quilt I'm working on is gunning for a blue ribbon next year.

Wow Kana those are gorgeous (but then all the pictures I've seen of your quilts have made me drool!)

Huge conga rats to you - and sending a year's worth of good luck vibes for that blue ribbon next year!

Wow. There must have been some serious competition in for the giraffes to only come in 6th. I love the fabric patterns you used for the surrounding.

Yeah the giraffes were in the "Machine quilted" group, which usually has 15-20 entries. Last year I placed 4th in that group with a Christmas quilt.

I was shocked about getting second place, not once - but twice. The last time I entered a baby quilt I placed 5th and was happy to get it.

The thing that really surprised me was - I didn't make any of them specifically for the fair. They were some of the best that I'd made this year and hadn't sold.

Nice job on the quilts. Those are AMAZING!

Sadly, I didn't get to see the competitions this year at my State Fair, but I'm going to look next year. I really want to enter the cardmaking and/or quilling comps at some point.

My cousin actually did enter the State Fair one year with a vanilla slice (I think) and took first prize in her division (she's an apprentice for a well-known bakery in my state)

Beautiful! My favorite is the baby blanket.

My m-i-l is a quilter by trade and enters hers in our state fair. I have one hanging in my hallway now that won a couple of years back-Jack Be Nimble in 3D. She's also doing 'portrait quilts' now. Totally amazing.

You gals that have the patience for piecing/quilting have my envy. I just can't do it.
