Woman called, was polite but I think a bit on edge.

sc: Can you tell me if my books are overdue? My number is xxx.
me: one moment. Next time, though, press three for circulation. Go ahead with your number.
sc: xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx.
me: your name?
sc: Snacklevily (note, not her name but it was some name that needs to be spelled, and it did have "evil" in the name)
me: could you spell that?
sc: *spells it*
me: ok, your books aren't due back until Oct. 17
sc: oh, good, great, I wasn't sure when they were due. Could you do me a favor? I know it's not your job, but I looked for the number for the Salvation Army and can't find it. I looked in the white pages and the yellow pages and at churches and I can't find their number. Can you help me?
me: (after getting the white pages, and looking under "S" and finding "Salvation Army) I found them in the white pages.
sc: I didn't see them.
me: the main number is xxx-xxx-xxxx.
sc: Thank you so much!

Nice enough, but her record is scary. I think she moves a lot since mail we sent her (maybe for overdue items) are returned a lot.

WE DID A SHELF CHECK AND SHE SAID THAT SHE TALKED WITH MONTROSE LIBRARY TO POSSIBLY SEE IF IT WAS ON THEIR SHELVES, BUT TO NO AVAIL. I TOOK HER WORD THAT SHE RETURNED THE DVD, AND BELIEVE THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT IT COULD BE MISSING ENTIRELY/ON OUR REPAIR SHELF. WAIVED THE FINE OF $2.80 ON HER ACCOUNT AND MARKED THE DVD MISSING. LM/LOO

I have no excuse for not knowing when books are due. I get an email reminder when it's getting close. Then I can renew online if I need more time. Easy.

What I should have done was told her, "Random Harvest is overdue." See if she says, "oh, I'll bring it in next time," or actually remembers that it was an item she claimed she never checked out.

Some of her notes say to give her 6 weeks check out. Though one note should she couldn't get a 6 weeks check out because an item had a hold, but they gave her a 6 weeks check out anyway.

Kind of miffed that a cw took her word that she never checked out Random Harvest even though the notes shows she makes that claim a lot.
