  • Officially unemployable and unhireable

Well, I got rejected yet again today.

Nobody is willing to give me a shot in this state at all.

Hopefully tomorrow's meeting with the employment services might actually give me something.

Bit of both. They're private businesses, but work with the government.

Long story short, the provider I had been with until recently wasn't giving me any assistance whatsoever and I was really starting to get desperate. Especially given that my mental illness showed up partway through my previous job, I haven't actually attended many job interviews since my diagnosis and especially since I left. When I DID ask for help, all I received was a very muddled up cover letter and the lady I got help from with my resume both completely messed them up, leaving them looking like English was my Second Language.

I complained to them about the service and rather than actually try and address my concerns or ask me to stay, they decided to say "OK, we'll transfer you" (yeah, I was a bit SC-ish ). So I went and spoke with the guy at the new service and after everything came out in the initial chat with him-about my past history and my mental illness (I burst into tears right then and there), he said that he would sign me on but wanted another assessment first. That involved getting a letter from the doctor (who was quite happy to explain that)

Went and had that and now I'm being referred to their Disability Employment Service provider. Two things stand from that: 1) the number of hours I need to satisfy the welfare office is reduced (previously it would've resulted in me being unable to complete both my studies and get work at the same time, this provides a better middle ground) and 2) I no longer need to disclose to my providers that I have a mental illness. I'm trying to aim for things away from a register or reduced register time.
