  • I'm coming out...

    Yes. From THAT closet.

Those of you who read Fratching already know, those that don't...well, surprise! But that's not the point of this thread.

Since May, I've come out to all of my close friends and my Dad. He's the only family member who knows at this juncture. Tomorrow, we (my best friend, her husband, my Dad and I) are going down to my mother's house to tell her, my stepdad, and two of my sisters.

Mom's going to be the big one, and I've been stressing over this for weeks now. I know how I THINK she'll react, but she's surprised me before.

Once my mother knows, EVERYONE is going to know. I've already pared my Facebook page of anyone I work with, since inevitably someone in my family is going to post about it, and there's no reason for people at work to know. I'm not close to any of them, it doesn't effect how I do my job, and it's just not necessary.

So I'm working on a letter today. While Dad and I are talking to Mom, the others are going to be telling my stepdad and sisters...basically, they'll either read the letter aloud or just pass it around to be read.

So, anyway...wish me luck. And hopefully I don't have a major panic attack between now and then. I'm trying really hard to stay calm about the whole thing, but it needs doing. This is who I am, and I'm not going to lie to them and hide it or hide my relationship with my girl from them. That's just not an option.

Also sending good luck vibes your way.

Just remember: whatever the outcome with your mom, in the end it's YOUR life and you are the one who has to live it. IMO it's far better to be true to yourself and be open and honest about who you ARE than live a facade for others.

I wish you luck. Hopefully your mom will realize that it's not who you choose to share your bed with that's important, but what type of person you are. And from what I've read of your posts, you seem like a very good person.

Good luck, may all your surprises be pleasant ones. Whatever happens, remember there are lots of people on here who don't care whom you have a relationship with, so long as you are happy.

Good luck to you. This will be tough, but it will be better to have it out there, and not feel like part of you is hidden away.
