  • Going to Las Vegas!

Mr. Wooden and I's anniversary is coming up, so I've booked a super secret trip to Vegas. I, being a wicked lady who loves surprises, am not telling Mr. Wooden until we get to our layover in Atlanta

Does anyone have any suggestions for while we're there?

Half price tickets is fun. Last time we went we saw 4 shows on the cheep buying the tickets at a discount every day at the lobby of one of the casinos every morning.

Go onto groupon and get some of the deals there. They currently have some fun ones. If they are still at the Luxor I recommend the body exhibit and the titanic exhibit. Also think about getting tickets to see Penn & Teller it's a very very fun show.

We wound up spending hours just watching the Bellagio fountains. The greatest thing about it - they're free! We had an early flight (shuttle pickup at 6 AM), but we were still out there at the fountains until after 11 PM our last night in Vegas.

Assuming you haven't reserved a hotel already, get on the spam list of the place you're interested in staying. You'll get the heads up on deals. You get the best deal reserving direct on the hotel's website as they offer the most goodies. Ask about coupons when you check in. Also pick up those free guides as they have some handy coupons.

Cheapo Vegas has some nice comparison charts for hotels, shows, food, and gaming.

As for transportation, use the airport shuttles (best deals) and be sure to specify round trip. Getting around, there's the Deuce and monorail (both cheap). Keep in mind that it is illegal for taxis to stop on the Strip (Las Vegas Boulevard officially)--they have to drop off and pick up at the hotel's taxi stand.

If you are celebrating a birthday, anniversary or some other event, make sure to mention it to your restaurant host and server. We took my mother to Emeril' Fish House for her birthday (she wanted to go there) and she scored a free desset..yes with a candle and singing waiters.

For dining, in general, whatever you and your spouse crave, you can find it.

                  Enjoy your trip.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

Fremont St. light show at night is always a free, and fun option. If you like pinball, go to the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum. Cheep beer downtown.

The Strat has a great happy hour on Level 107. Half price drinks and apps. You can get sloshed while watching the people jump off the tower. It was one of the funnest things I've done in LV. Great service too.
Jumping off the strat will put you back about $100--it's a static line jump and they will tape it for you.

Cheap shrimp cocktails on Fremont St.( I think at Mermaids)
People watching at Ceasars is a great way to pass some time. Might even spot a celeb.
If you are going to one of those half price tix kiosks--get there EARLY. The lines get looooooong.
The Duece is a great way to get around town. You can buy a single or multi day ticket, and they run 24/7.
The Titanic exhibit at the Luxor is AWESOME. Done very well. When I was there in Jan. I got a package for $54 that got me tix for Titanic, the RollerCoaster at NY NY and the Shark Reef at Luxor. Totally worth it.

                          I gotta get back..........

The gardens at Belligo are very pretty. Shark Reef is very cool also. The dinner show at Excalibur (the one with knights can't remember the name) is a lot of fun.

Holy cow! Wow, you guys are AMAZING! I think this warrants more than one trip...that's the excuse I'll use in a few months anyways lol

I think we may catch a Penn and Teller show (He loves Penn, I love Teller and we both love to watch them do magic). Groupon was a fantastic idea. I'm going to put together a tentative schedule and figure out the best things to do this trip.

I wound up telling him, because Mr. Wooden is a persistent butthead who can't handle a suprise to save his life.

One of my coworkers suggested scaring the bejeebus out of my dad and make an allusion to getting married when we get there. (My father would have brick babies if that actually happened lol)
