  • A spider by anyother name is badass

So like, there I was on a walk when suddenly I notice this thing floating in midair off to my right. I stop and I realize it's a spider that made a web from the street light to the wall. It was about the size of a dime and it looked like it was covered in spikes. Now, I'm not a spider expert in anyway, shape or form, but if I had to venture a guess this spider was called "Spiderous Baddassous"

In layman's terms: Totally fuckin' badass spider with spikes! Fucking SPIKES!

I tried to take a picture with my phone, but in the dark of the evening the camera could never come close to justifying the totally bitchin' thing I was looking at. So I walk back home and tell my soon-to-be husband about what I just saw.

"So do you want to see this badass spider?" I ask him.

And he looks at me and says . . ."No."

Dafuq? How do you not want to see a totally badass spider with mother effin' spikes?! I . . . I don't think I can marry this man anymore. How can one marry that which turns down awesome of this level?

But seriously what kind of spider has spikes? Help me out here because what the fuck?

A quick search turned up Micrathena Spider. Could it have been one of those? Looks like there are a few different varieties:

No, that's not it. It looks like a "normal" brown spider with spikes on it's back and legs. Really weird. The closest looking picture I could find was this:

But the spikes on this one are much larger.

I would agree, except that I like spiders....

Which biome are you in? Nation and state, and if your state/province has multiple types of biosphere, which biosphere within that state?

That'll help us narrow down the spider type considerably. Thanks!

So, something related to a lynx spider, then?

We have mutant spiders here; each one is around the size of a loonie, covered in spikes, and looks like they could swarm and eat hummingbirds if they damn well chose to. Every spring, ONE of them gets up to making a web across the entrance of the carport at the front of my place, and that web spans at Least 10 feet across on the diagonal. Freaky little fucker.

I live in Arizona, USA. Not sure if there are multiple types of biosphere here but if it helps to know I live the Sonoran Desert part of the state.
