I'm not happy to hear about this. For one, there's already an established cannon with the books after Return of the Jedi. Heck, there was established book cannon for stuff in the prequel trilogy that Lucas flat out ignored. Do you honestly think Disney is going to be any different? Say goodbye to the relevancy of the last 30 years of books that have been written.

Secondly, Disney makes terrible sequels. What was the last Disney sequel you saw that wasn't a terribly written, plot-hole riddled mess?

And Jay, please tell me you're joking. Please. I'm begging you.

Thing is, George Lucas was in no way beholden to anybody when he wrote the scripts for the prequels.

I'm not happy about the takeover, either. All we can hope for now is for one brave rebel to fire a torpedo down the thermal exhaust port on Spaceship Earth at Epcot.

And Jay, please tell me you're joking. Please. I'm begging you.
        I hope I am.

          Well, it's official.

There will be another Star Wars trilogy, episodes VII, VIII, and IX. I'm not sure what to expect.

...well, for starters it's after Disney bought LucasFilm, sooo... yeah, hard to say at this point if they'll make it as awesome as the original or as lame as the prequels.

            Fiancee: What?!

I was thinking something along those lines...

There's a chance that Disney could adapt one or two of the books into a film.

For me, when I saw this: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/entert...-1226507147739 (another article confirming the same thing), my first thought was "are they going to have a line of Stormtroopers/Wookies doing the can-can while singing a song about how it's great to work for the empire/alliance?"

What Disney needs to do is take a Touchstone Pictures approach, and actually make an adult film.

Let's face facts, the last good Star Wars movie was Empire Strikes Back.

If they can make a Jar Jar free movie, I'll be happy. Unless, of course, the next movie is "The Death of Jar Jar."

Might be good! I can see it now. Jar Jar meets Saw. Now that's a movie I'd go see!

So, wait. Does this make Leia a Disney Princess now?

I vaguely remember the first trilogy that came out, but my baby sis is a HUGE SW fan.

Nonetheless, the thought of Disney and Star Wars in the same sentence just doesn't sound right in the least.

I suspect that'll go over with the die hard fans about as well as a porn store in a church.

Now now, I can't be the only one who thinks Disney will actually improve the Star Wars movies and stories.

Any sequels can't be as disappointing as the Phantom Menace.

And maybe they will do a proper cleaned up DVD release of the original non-special edition trilogy.
