  • That's not an emergency

From New York State Public Health Law, §6810, §§6:
Emergency: any condition requiring alleviation of severe pain or which threatens to cause disability or take life if not promptly treated
No, sir. Your not being able wanting to stop off at your child's doctor's office on your way home from work is not an emergency, and I will not call him for a phone prescription for his Concerta (which is a controlled substance in schedule II, and can not be prescribed over the phone except in an emergency as defined above). You'd only get a 5-day supply in any case.

No, my boss will not have me fired for refusing to violate the law.

No, I don't care that other pharmacists have done this for you in the past.

No, I don't care either that you're now trying to blackmail me by threatening to report them to the State Board for violation of the law when they illegally helped you out in the past. You do whatever you feel necessary.

No, I don't much care that you're never coming here again. Self-important pains in the ass like you I don't need.

I'm so glad to see somebody not give in to the idiots!

Egads, he's almost as bad as those folks who swear up and down that they had refills on their Oxycontin (schedule II's are non-refillable IIRC, been a while since I sold drugs instead of stole cars) and WE must've done something wrong! They need their refill NOW! THEY ARE DYING! It's an EMERGENCY! and if we don't give it to them, they'll get us all fired/disciplined/fed to wolves....

Uh huh... I've got the store, the State AG's office and the FEDS on my side, who you got on yours?

I think it means threatening to report the pharmacists who supposedly got phone prescriptions when they weren't supposed to.

Well, yeah, but I really don't think that threatening to report people who broke the law and work for other stores is going to have any effect on forcing this employee to also break the law.

Heck, even reporting other pharmacists in the same store that violated the law is ineffective blackmail.

Stopping off here to leave a note to Arga.. I did a double take at this part, then scrolled up to see who wrote it. When I realized that it was you and recognized you as the resident tow-truck driver, I was relieved. That line could be SO misconstrued! ... actually the 'sold drugs' part is still questionable...

                      A+ would LOL again.

Whatever collegial feelings you may have, the near certainty of getting reported yourself at a later date would keep you from breaking the law.
Sometime he will find someone who won't break the law and turn the others in, why not now?

I'm wondering... how offended would the SC be if you replied to the blackmail attempt with...., "So which pharmacist was this again? Just so I know whom to file the report on."

cos... i'm sure they were bluffing, and SCs always get offended when you call them out on the bluffs.

One of my aunts had to go to school and have a talk with a principal on something similar once. It seems her daughter told someone that her mother "sold drugs". she neglected to mention that mom was a pharmaceutical rep...
