  • -25 cent price check Rant?

Doesn't it annoy you when customers want a price check for something less than 25cents? Doesn't it bother you when for example someone buys a bag of chips for $1.28 and they say it's $1.08 and you wish that you would not go over all that trouble of paging for something so measly but would rather give them 2 dimes to get rid of the SC. I had a guy eat a bag of chips without paying for it first and bothers me for a price check I mean c'mon. I wish i can just say to him that since you opened the bag you don't get a price check, sorry. aaaargh

people are idiots. i don't understand people who have so much free time on their hands that they argue about the price of something so cheap to begin with, sheesh.

It's ridiculous. It bothers me more when they do it in a hurry!

So they claim. Frankly, if they're in that much of a hurry, they wouldn't bother.

But then, as we all will probably be reminded by BeckySunshine: If it makes sense, it's not allowed.

The most idiotic price check I ever got was over 5 cents. Why does 5 cents matter so much?!?!

I've encountered people who will hold up the line for a single PENNY.

Yes, you read that correct: one penny.

Some people are bored, I tell you.

I figured someone would get to it. (I was at work without computer access at the time this posted.)

I wouldn't do a price check for a penny. seriously I would refuse to. They can call the Manager and get me fired but no way in hell. I automatically think they are doing that to give you a hard time. That's pathetic I feel for the people waiting in line!

I'm sorry but another thing I want to mention is when these "I'll categorize them as poor shmoes because they bother me for something so insignificant they want it to be less affordable" wants the price check for -25 cents and some guy in line is like "It's only 20 cents" they always say well it makes a difference. We'll that difference is 400 of the products .20x400= ohhh 80 dollar difference what a big deal to rip the company off 80 dollars.

Price checks for a few cents always made me want to pull out my purse, chuck a quarter at the SC, and tell them to just leave. But this was obviously very against store policy.
I could have kissed this one lady. There was no real line at the cash, just the SC and this lady behind him. But she had to wait until he was done, and she looked like she was in a hurry. So of COURSE this bastard decides that he'll make a federal case out of this bottle of wine ringing in at ten cents over the shelf tag price.
I told him that the price had indeed gone up, but we didn't have new shelf tags yet, but I really should have taken down the old one, so sorry, do you still want the bottle? And he launched into the whole "false advertising, never shopping here again" routine we are all so familiar with. Finally this angel behind him throws a dime on the counter and says "Leave the poor girl alone. If ten cents is so important to you, please just take this dime and go home." The SC pocketed the dime and slunk out.
I gave the lady a discount on her bottle totalling far far more than the dime she donated to the cause.

If you have to ask, it's probably better posted at www.fratching.com

Okay, this is a little off topic but it still involves a penny: A co-worker of mine had someone ask her if she could donate a penny to them from her drawer so that they wouldn't get back .99 cents. She told them no and they got upset. We cannot give out change, we like to balance our drawers. It's not like we have a penny jar just to give out. Whatever gets left on our counters turns into a tip.

I used to hate hearing: That's false advertising. BFD.

Or if a child would come up to me (back in my family dollar days) and try to pay for something and be short. They'd bascially pan handle until a customer gave them the money. Even though the parents were close by and refused to give the child any money. Go figure.

Anakah, I don't fault the parents for not giving the children the rest of the money they needed. I DO fault them, however, for not telling them in the first place, "You don't have enough money for that. Let's find something else."

                              ...it's the PRINCIPLE!!!

I can't believe Wine Guy actually took the dime! I'd be ashamed if I were him.

I used to keep any extra pennies aside for people who didn't have the penny. But I kept them out of sight (in the empty coin spot in the till) because if someone was bugging me I'd rather give them that 99 cents change

And if I had an extra nickel or dime that someone left behind I'd change it out for pennies to keep aside just for that.

I don't believe just 'cause ideas are tenacious
