  • Customer left parking lot without paying for her parking

I was working at this parking lot http://www.customerssuck.com/board/s...91#post1100991 on Wednesday directing customers, who had already entered the parking lot and paid, as to where to park at. The same attendant was flagging, & the other attendant was taking the customer's money and giving them a ticket. That attendant & I were working near each other when a female customer walks up to us & tells us the the following
    • I do not have any money to pay for my parking
    • I will pay when I get out of court
    • I parked my car in parking spot X

So we tell her that she has to pay for her parking when she enters the parking lot. She tells us that she did not know that she had to do this. The other attendant tells her that there is an atm machine in the building across the street, but she tells him that she does not have an atm card with her. So we tell her again that she has to pay for her parking. She gets upset, tells us "well then you will have to tow my car because I am due in court in 5 minutes" & literally walks away without paying for her parking. While this was happening, other cars were entering the parking lot, customers were paying the other attendant, & I was directing them as to where to park at.

I found out what else had happened when I returned to the parking lot after working at another parking lot until 9:30 a.m. The attendant who was flagging told me what happened.
    • She asked him when she entered the lot "where do I pay at?"
    • The attendant who was flagging directed her to the other parking attendant
    • She told the attendant who was flagging that she has no money
    • The attendant who was flagging told her that she has to pay the other attendant & to speak to him first

According to the attendant who was flagging, while she was leaving the lot on foot after telling me & the attendant who was taking the customers money, that she will pay later, she passed by him, threw her keys on the ground at his feet & said "fine...take my keys and tow my car if you have to. Here are my keys."

This all happened when it was busy at the parking lot. That attendant gave the daytime parking lot manager her keys.

OK, I find the flow confusing, but what I get is:

1 - Woman doesn't have cash or ATM card on her to pre-pay for parking.
2 - She must get to the courthouse soon and needs to park somewhere near there
3 - When refused entrance to the parking lot, she dropped her keys in front of the attendant, told him to tow the car if needs be and went to the courthouse on foot.

Is that roughly accurate? From the title, I thought she had managed to drive out again somehow without paying.

so... are you going to call her bluff on it and have the car towed?

Oops... forgot to include the part that she had already parked in a parking spot. So I updated my original post on that one.

She had already parked when she walked up to me and the other attendant. She left without paying for her parking.

I understand she got in, complained to one person about not having money, left her keys, then came back then
She gets upset & literally leaves the parking lot
. So when you say she leaves, I'm imaging she walked away, since she left her keys behind.

So she's going to get towed? I'm imaging there are other places to park, though. Maybe further away. She could have looked or asked someone. Some people just don't try.

Don't teach me a lesson; all I learn is that you are an asshole.

That leaving the keys part is weird. I almost wonder if she was going to court in regards to someone else taking possession of the car, (Ex/soon to be Ex, creditor....)

The other part, from my long ago 15 years in the parking biz, I would attribute to no-pay scam; she'd come back later, and claim that she thought parking was free/validated for those going to court, and then say: "Well, I don't have any money! You have a problem!"

Tell me Miss Special Snowflake was towed. How much more was the towing and storage charge.
I'm trying to see things from your point of view, but I can't get my head that far up my keister!

I wonder if she was a lawyer with some really important case or if she was suing someone/being sued? what could be so important you would toss your keys at an attendant and tell them to tow your car?
