  • Another oldie, this time from my college days...

This is a story I (may) have posted on a previous incarnation of CS...

Back when I worked at a Pittsburgh chain in college (Eat N Park), I started as a dishwasher but became a greeter off and on. On a greeting shift one morning, a family walked in and not 15 seconds passed, the (I guess grandpa) of the family barked "Are you going to seat us anytime today?"

That was strike one. Now for strike two...

I walked the family to a booth (our place only had booths at the time) and the grandpa barks "oh to hell with this fucking shit, let's just go to (other restaurant)!" to where his family was telling him to calm down and get the buffet. Guess he didn't like that we had booths and no chairs.

Strike three (and thanks to an awesome AM who had the back of his employees):
I am walking by the buffet after seating some more people, and the old guy grabs me by the arm and yells that there's no eggs at the buffet. Before I can say anything, the AM approaches him and tells him he is to leave the restaurant immediately and never return (of course, he bitched the entire way out but we were glad to be rid of him). His family quickly followed him out (they ordered but the ticket had yet to be put through).

Got more coming if you want...

You know, the only thing I can think is that grandpa originally wanted to go to [Other Restaurant] in the first place, but was out voted. So he decided to be a goddamned twat and make the rest of the family's (and employees at the place) miserable so they'd give in and go to the restaurant he wanted.

It's so I can get ideas out of my head, I decided to put it in a blog in case people are bored or are curious as to the (many) things in progress.

              Definitely sounds like this
Tell a man there are 300 Billion stars in the universe and he’ll believe you.
Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he’ll have to touch to be sure.

I would have to make that guess as well.
Customers should always be served . . . to the nearest great white.

I'd like to hear more about it since I grew up around Pittsburgh (McKeesport) and am familiar with the Eat n Park chain. My wife and I go there a few times a month and I'm addicted to their turkey clubs... So far I've never seen any SC-type behavior there.

I don't have a sucky story but more of a self-sighting. When my sister was a toddler, my family and I went there to eat. She had to go to the bathroom so my Dad and I sat & waited. After a few minutes she comes running around the corner, smiling while my Mom is chasing her. As she turned the corner she blurts out gleefully, "DADDY! DADDY!! I JUST HAD DIARRHEAH!!". I wanted to hide so badly under that booth...
