  • Website question

I was wondering if anyone has used fishpond before, either the Australian or USA version?

If so, is it reliable at all?

I am considering ordering a few things from there that my local bookshops do not carry for one reason or another but I'd to know if they're reliable or if I should stay far away as possible.

My housemate uses them regularly. She hasn't had a problem.

For books or for something else?

        Yikes!

Had some time to kill so I went to five or six sites where they are reviewed, and, well, YIKES!

        I'd be extra leery fireheart.

A couple sites offering customer reviews.

I'd avoid them like the plague.

            Thanks guys.

I went and did a bit more digging and made some price comparisons between stores (excluding fishpond) to see which place could give me the best deal for what I wanted. The brick-and-mortar bookstores all have online equivalents, but there are one or two independent online bookstores with decent reviews (bookworld and some other website that escapes me at the moment) that are Australian-based.

Looks like I'll be going through Bookworld for what I want. They're running a special at the moment with 10% discount for all orders with their loyalty program (my spam filters are running overtime ) and it's free delivery in Australia. They also actually HAVE what I want in stock. (several other stores either carry only one of the items, carry one of the packs I want but as separate items, or carry both items but one or both are unavailable)

Despite this, I am checking in with Dymocks this morning to see if they can special order in what I want.

Fireheart, she's used it for DVDs and games mostly. I've had games from them with no problems.

I ended up going through Bookworld.com.au, but thanks for your advice folks (free delivery and 10% off of their prices, most of which are already below retail)

I do prefer to shop in brick-and-mortar stores where possible. This is more a case of using online when I CAN'T get a book. As it turns out, the book is only available overseas and most Australian bookstores don't stock it. (well, to be picky, it's a book + 2 tarot decks set )
