A lady comes in today to complain.

    Me: Awesome game store manager
    SC: Crazy old bat
    Boss: Gord 2.0

SC: I would like to make a complaint, I sent in several emails and no one answered so I came in to make the complaint in person.
    Me: What is the problem?
SC: I bought 2 games back at Christmas for a gift and when we opened them pieces were missing and broken.
Me: Did you bring the games with you so we can check them?
SC: No, I left them at home.
Me: If you want a refund you need to talk to Boss *pointing at boss*
Boss: So what is the problem?
SC: You sold me 2 games that you opened, broke the pieces, and then resealed them.
Boss: We get our product direct from the supplier and do not have the machinery to rewrap product.
SC: You must have the machine, it is easy to do, it must be in your back room or somewhere in the mall.
Boss: *amazingly keeping calm* sorry maam but that is illegal and we do not do that.
SC: I am writing a review telling everyone about you guys and how bad you are.
    Boss: Go right ahead.
    SC: *leaves store*
Boss: *to me* Find that review and ban her permanently.

I was thinking about it a bit later and am pretty sure that she bought the game, played it a bunch, and is now trying to return it with a BS complaint. Our return policy is pretty clear, exchange only if you have the sealed product still. We have refunded for obvious mistakes in the game but never 3 months after the fact.

I will keep you guys up to date if she writes a review.

wow... why would anyone even bother doing that? Breaking the pieces and then resealing it that is. That seems... pointless? And even then, this is ages later. If that really had happened, I'd come in the next day it was open. Does she really think that makes any sort of sense?

Fe Fi Fo Fum, I smell the blood of a scammer-woman ~_~

If she had thought of this before setting foot in the mall, I would think that she could have at least gone to the effort of bringing the games themselves.

She likely broke the game herself and is pulling a fast one. I'd call bullshit if she's just now claiming it came like that... three months after she got it. What...did she actually wait that long to play it? Hell, no gamer does. That woman's story has more holes in it than Casey Anthony's testimony. Knowing me, I'd probably tell her in such a way that makes her question her own logic but then again, I have almost no tolerance when it comes to bullshit like that.

Yeah, not bringing the stuff back? Huge red flag. Why would anyone take her word for it?

Gord. How I miss him. The only consolation in his absence is this site and the fact that Simon still creates new BOFH .

It was maybe a birthday gift for her child? I know that I've been there when games were chosen for me, but wasn't allowed to get them before birthday/christmas.

But yeah, she's definitely a scammer.

My SIL's old boyfriend's family once bought a Playstation, put their old one in the box of the new one, went back to the store with the box and said it didn't work and they wanted their money back and got it back. My SIL was appalled and refused to even touch the system.

stars -- This is why places like GameStore began scanning the Serial number's barcode when selling systems, I should think. Also to cut down on warranty fraud.

Gonna have to disagree, I have at least two games that are unopened sitting in my room. Many more that have been opened and perhaps played to some degree, but not finished. I just haven't found the time to play them yet.
