  • I'm new at the hotel, and already HAVE SCs! YAYYY MEE

    As told on my FB status;

"So...this is a 100% non-smoking hotel. Sir, you signed a paper as you checked in where it clearly states you will be charged 250 DOLLARS, you were warned on saturday, smoked all weekend..denied it, then admitted it, then denied it. We have photographic proof, witnesses, and notes.

So when we finally charge you and ask you to leave, you threaten to sue us? Then refuse to acknowledge your own signature, even though you brought a P.I, and you refused to
acknowledge and take the paper that states
why you were charged. But you will surely sue us for a lot of money.

Good luck you entitled sack of shit"

In addition, I have to add we found consistently that his room had ashtrays and ashes, and this morning, before we kicked him out, he told my coworker he wasn't smoking, then told me after she switched it to me, a MINUTE later, that he was "only smoking in the window".

Then when he brought the P.I and threatened to sue us, he demanded that we'd give him the paper showing where it said he would be charged and then asked to leave, but didn't take it.

He tried to use his height to bully us, especially me since I spoke with him before. It didn't work, and I stared him down. I was ANGRYYY but I remained professional and cool...in front of him.

Seriously though. Try to sue us. No sane lawyer would take the case, but he'd sure take your money.

And cigarette smell is a bitch to get out. Good luck to him though especially if you have a signed piece of paper.

We can't rent that room for three days. Or four. Its actually not good for us, that's a popular room. He was supposed to be longterm, until the 28th too, as well as bring in business...but I'd rather he'd go elsewhere.

kinda like a pfb letter i read recently where the customer claimed that he was illegally charged for the smoking fee based on the managers "opinion" rather than fact.

however... i'm thinking ... that some people really think the staff can't tell. or that they are being honest when they say "i didn't smoke" but neglect to mention that they had guests who did

          This.
Growing up, some of my cousins smoked (both their parents smoked). They were always amazed that I could tell when they had had a cigarette vs when they had been at home in their parents smokey house.

A couple of my coworkers smoke. When I first started, they could never figure out why I kept my distance just after they had a smoke break. Finally had to get rude with one coworker who kept trying to get in my face right after he had a smoke break.
On plus side, once he understood the issue, he apologized and now tries to keep a bit of distance until the scent has had a chance to dissipate.

Probably doesn't help any that I'm asthmatic.

I am still trying to figure out why he thought that involving a PI would do any good o_O

At least if he brought a lawyer (which would have cost more than the fee), you likely could have had the pleasure of watching him get turned down in person...

Unless his PI has a TARDIS I'm not sure what good it would do.

The P.I had an over-stuffed sense of importance too. Usually when a man like him or a lawyer is asked their name, they say their name as they bring out the business card.
He asked us ours and tried to interfere with me helping another guest, so when my coworker asked him his name, he had a smug smile, gave us his card, and said, "this is me, m'am."

                Gag me.
Seriously, what good are you, dude? We still have everything he signed on file (I made 4 copies. Yay)
We have pictures, as I said, and we found damning bits of evidence. Good luck.

I only feel bad cause the guest was supposed to bring in more guests, and I think they booked before he got kicked out...so if they ask for him while checking in, it's probably not going to end well.

And I have to deal with them. They only speak Korean.

Probably thought the PI would serve as an effective bully-for-hire.

                          LOVELY. ANOTHER

Today, had yet ANOTHER smoking related SC

This guy stays here once a week.

Three weeks ago, he had one smoking charge.

Two weeks ago, he got another

They didn't realize it until today when they checked online banking.

They came to dispute and argue. Yippee. He was very belligerent and cursing a storm. His excuses? At first it was "We smoke all the time and the smell was on my clothes, and it went to my room"

Which...doesn't make sense, cause we only smelled it the two times out of his ten stays here so far.

THENNN when we told him we had photographic proof courtesy of the Housekeeping Supervisor, he tried to say that "perhaps he was rude to a housekeeper and she wanted to get back at him"...

But it doesn't work that way. See, a housekeeper has to find the evidence/hints of the damages, go to the HKSup, HKSup takes pics of the cigs/ashes/damage then HKSup has to go to GM or OM, and they decide whether its severe enough to charge for smoking or damages.

So saying that perhaps a housekeeper set you up isn't that easy. Then to say she planted the evidence is even MORE retarded, cause I already know NONE of the workers who smoked today had a cig or a light or anything of the kind on them. (They were crying about it all day, and this dumbass of SC was trying to say that they did that TODAY instead of when the charge was for...so....my BS detector went off.)

Then he threw a fit and called the rewards number so his already lowered rate would hit near zero, so he could try to pay with cash and get his card info off...but that doesn't work. We keep your card info for the incidentals like this. We're not going to trust you with just cash.

But god damn, people. Don't think you're above the rules then complain when you get it in your face that you're not.

Oh, and telling us that you're mad enough to shoot someone with a gun in the head while gesturing towards us makes me reallllllyyyy want to talk to my manager tomorrow, on my off day, of banning you after you leave. I do NOT feel safe with that kind of language

                            1. Would you rather be right, or get the result you want?
                            2. If you're consistently getting results you don't want, change what you do.
                            3. Deal with the situation you have now, however it occurred.
                            4. Accept the consequences of your decisions.
