  • Baseless wild Dr who speculation

so 50th anniversary, and an episode called the name of the doctor.

    Let's have some guessing.

We find out he's not really the doctor and they pull Paul Mcgann out of suspended animation.
Interviewer: What is your greatest weakness?
Me: I expect competence from my coworkers.

Someone told me in all seriousness the other day that having Ten and Rose back for the 50th is actually a complete show revamp that will scrap everything since the last regeneration and start it again.

Definitely not that AFAIK, Matt Smith is contracted as The Doctor until 2015, and his run could always be extended.
"That's too bad. Hospitals aren't fun to fight through."
"What IS fun to fight through?"
"Gardens. Electronics shops. Antique stores, but only if they're classy."

*lol* Hey, this thread did say 'baseless'! And there's so much talk (at least in some quarters I frequent on the 'net) about Matt regenerating at Christmas that there are going to be some seriously disappointed people when it turns out he doesn't...

Right, so, back to the baseless, wild speculation, yes?

Here's my list of possible "secret identity" names for the Doctor!
          1. Slartibartfast! ("I told you my name wasn't important.")
          2. Oobedoob Scooby-Dooby Benubi ("I have the silliest name in the galaxy.")
          3. Thaal (only my fellow Green Lantern fans will get the joke there. )
          4. Doctor Feelgood!

And... I'm spent! If I think of any more, I'll post them later.
"Eventually one outgrows the fairy tales of childhood, belief in Santa and the Easter Bunny, and believing that SCs are even capable of imagining themselves in our position."

            My name ideas

            1) John Smith - hey, hiding in plain sight right?
            2) The Master - yes, he's really been fighting himself all these years
            3) Chronos - cos being a Time Lord, he of course at one point made humans think he was a God of Time
            4) Grandfather - Susan was really calling him by his real name all this time!

unfortunately for real speculation it's not Rose and Ten but the alternate universe with Rose and human Ten. That's my real bet.

                That's my guess as well.

Posting this here because ... well, it's sort of baseless.

I was thinking about "Midnight." One of the scariest Nu Who episodes in part because we never find out who/what the monster is/was. It just turned up, killed the drivers of the transport, and then possessed one of the passengers, causing her to endlessly repeat everything that was said, until eventually it gained enough power to cause the Doctor to freeze up, convincing everyone else that he had been possessed, until the transport's hostess realized the truth, and dragged the possessed passenger and herself out into the instantly fatal landscape outside.

It was the way the "monster" repeated everything. That's all it was, in the end, a mirror. What other Nu who villain have we seen this series (Series 7) that has a penchant for mirroring people, and in the end, possessing people?

although off topic i do rather wish they'd do a back-series for him. that would be kinda interesting.

I think they're going to pull a Janitor from Scrubs when it comes to the name.

                      "My name is X!!"

                      Five minutes later...

                      "Hi, Y!!"
                      "Hello."
"...Muhuh? *blink-blink* >_O *roll over* ZZZzzz......"

I'm hoping that they are going back on the Doctor's time line... it has been shown to be possible (though not adviseable) in the past (The Three Doctors).
Doing some cross show speculation. The Borg are the descendants of the Cybermen (after all, in this most recent episode it looks like the conversion process has evolved to be done piece wise and that people can have traits of both their original biology and Cybermen technology). Also, the Q are a breakaway sect of Time Lords that escaped before the Time War and suceeded in Rasolins' goal of becoming free of the need of physical bodies that are limited to the time/space continuum.

i don't know if that would make it to tv, but... i do know from star trek books that they WILL publish crossovers. as they did with Planet X (TNG/xmen).

and i just found a rather funny Doctor Who / TNG crossover vid too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C2gWh6SUwU

There was a comic based crossover by IDW of doctor Who and ST:TNG. set during Matt smiths tenure with Amy and Rory. There was a flashback to the classic series with the 4th Doctor.

The wife gave told me an interesting spec theory. Clara is River Song. I said I thought she could be her daughter....
Lister: This is Crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
Cat: You're right. We're Nuts! This is an insane conversation....
Lister: She'll never leave Fred and we know it.

From previews it looks like The Doctor is going to a place he should never go, back across his own time line (as somebody already suggested).

Since Clara is 'the impossible girl' I think that her being River IS possible but here are some other rather crazy ideas.

Clara is the offspring of River Song and Captain Jack Harkness. She doesn't regenerate like most time lords, she stays the same person..but forgets her past life.

Clara is a female regeneration of Doctor Who..and thus why she is impossible because he is not supposed to cross his own time line AND she has forgotten that she is the Doctor.

Two theories that are crazy, but just crazy enough it just might work.
Engaged to the amazing Marmalady. She is my Silver Dragon, shining as bright as the sun. I her Black Dragon (though good honestly), dark as night..fierce and strong.
