....and resisting my darndest. Seriously.
So a couple months ago I started building raised gardens, and have been STUPID excited about this. Like, overly happy puppy excited. I haven't had my own garden since I moved from SC as a kid.
Anyways, so the main issue we ran into was dirt/compost. We have a tiny, beatup, sedan. It would not be able to get the amount of dirt we need, so I had to shop around. Tried calling around for local guys, nobody knew who to call, or what to do...but just about every one of them asked if I'd tried talking to Fairly Famous Farm Store. F3S for short. I'd always assumed F3S mostly dealt with tractors, and their supplies ( ) but, lo and behold, they don't just do that stuff.
So I went down to F3S, which happens to be less than a 2 minute drive from my house, and talked to the manager. They were currently out of topsoil and compost, but "were sure to get some on the next truck", and they even promised delivery to our home. Cool deal.
Oh, but I need to pay upfront. Ok, no probs. Paid on the spot.
Next week rolls around, and nobody showed with the dirt. gave the store a ring, and it didn't come in. They say that sometimes it can take two weeks, but never more than that. Ah...well...they didn't tell me that. But ok.
Second week. No dirt. More promises.
Third week, I'm miffed, I should've had my plants in a week ago now. Store says its corporate's fault for not sending stuff over, so I call up customer service for F3S, and ask to file a complaint. Not against the store, persay, but just so that it's known that the store is not getting the shipment inventory they need, and that my order is way late. CS says that the store never put in a raincheck order. Nor have they activated their inventory system. But hey, they promise this will all be settled, they will email/call the store now, and I should get things cleared up soon. Okay....
Fourth week. Nothing. I called up AGAIN, and talk with the manager for a long time, who tells me that no stores for a 2 hour radius have topsoil or compost. The HECK? This is F3S, these are supposed to be STAPLES at the stores! I explain how I talked to corporate again, same deal. Oh, we'll talk to them, and expect a call from the store manager tomorrow.
No call from her, so I wait, and call the next day, and finally get a hold of the manager after two calls.
Store manager talks to me for a while, explaining that stuff is "going crazy here", and that "this is the buyer's fault, we aren't getting what we need". Okay, well, I paid already for this, and had a direct order placed, why isn't my order coming in? This is super fishy from my perspective. She says she will call me tomorrow, when she gets her shipping lists, and let me know whats going on.
No call from her again. So, I call up the store. They get extremely dodgy on the phone when they realize who I am, and won't give the phone to the manager. I call back an hour later, same thing. Several hours after that, same thing again.
Giving up on calling, I went to the store myself. Walked in, and waited a good ten minutes before she finally showed up, after being paged. The cashier looked pretty nervous, I probably wasn't helping with my pacing.
Store manager tells me that she got the lists yesterday (WTF WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME THEN) and that my order is not listed again (SERIOUSLY THAT WAS IMPORTANT TO KNOW). She says that it should be in next week. I guess the look on my face was pretty scary, because she is all "I'll just give you a refund if you want, guess you'll just have to drive to <town twenty minutes away> and get it yourself." Wtf lady, we've discussed multiple times that we have a tiny car, who couldn't handle that. Was that her being snarky? I don't know, and honestly I'm at the verge of tears at this point, so I just kind of....went all frozen. Best way I can describe it. Told her that I want to be assured by Saturday that my order's coming in. And tell her that I'm going home right now to update corporate on this...and I just turned and walked away. Didn't want to cry in front of the entire darned store, so I made it out to the car before I broke down.
Called up corporate again, who decides to inform me "Um, didn't anyone at that store tell you they are labeled out of season for topsoil and compost?" The...heck. We are Zone 7, this is the PERFECT time for that! "Oh, well, someone at the store must've done that. They won't ever get any more dirt or compost. Not this year. I don't know why they even attempted your order."
I'm furious now.
I ask for the district manager's contact information...which...they won't give me. But they promise that he'll contact me within 48 hours.
He'd better, honestly. I'm now weeks behind, I'm frustrated, and I'm tired of being given the runaround. I never thought this was going to happen, and frankly, I'm about to the point of telling them I want a partial refund for this shenanigan. I don't want to be an SC, I've tried to be as patient and nice as possible, but this is ridiculous. We're at about five weeks now, and I have no idea if they're going to come through or not.
