  • The Return of She of the Cheap

Yep. She came in the thrift store again today.

However, she didn't have her daughter with her, and - wonder of wonders! - she only stayed a few minutes.

This didn't prevent her from complaining that the bargain bin didn't contain anything new since her last visit. Which was yesterday. She told me to tell the owners to call her when they have more bargain items, because, you see, there's still some space left in the bus (which bus, I don't know and don't really care), and if they don't fill is all, they won't make any money.

    As if I care.

Also, she asked me if I go to church. I told her I don't.

    "Why?"

"I have my reasons," I answered, "and I don't discuss them with anyone."

She didn't push the issue. Yay!

I've seen some SC in thrift stores but that takes the cake ... have somebody call her when there's more in the bin??

Yeah, don't hold your breath on that one, lady, you'll pass out.

Good response to her question about church! Perhaps if she gets snubbed enough she'll stop coming around altogether ... one can hope.

Oh yes, we'll call her, but she won't like what we're calling her.

Yes, when I called one of the owners, he was both amused and disgusted. The woman has bought quite a few items from the store, but given her tendency to act as if it exists solely for the purpose of making her money, neither of the owners is inclined to cut her any slack. As it is, they give her half off the BARGAIN items, and she still tries to get a better deal.

As for going to church, it's none of her business what I do in my private life, and I'm not going to get into a debate about it.

I don't quite follow. Does she purchase items from your store, then sell them marked up (or on that large, electronic auction site) or something?

She buys items from the store, then resells them in her home country.
