  • Drawing paper fail...

So I've been doing some "experiments" at the moment with various forms of "dry" media I guess you could call them, meaning that I can take them anywhere.

while I've managed to produce some decent pictures so far (primarily as practice pieces and to experiment with particular techniques, such as cross-hatching and shadows), I'm now keen to try other media as well.

I currently have some compressed and willow charcoal at home at the moment, which I bought from a "cheap" art supply store. ($5 for 10 sticks + tin , the 3 compressed charcoals came as a kit) I also wanted to give white charcoal a try. So I bought some charcoal pencils.

Now I needed some black paper. I managed to find some in a newsagency. Take it home and I try the pencil. Oops! Nothing.

I have a look at the paper again. 80gsm.

I try the pencils with the black visual diary that I have (mini-sized, hence why I ddn't try it first). They work sorta OK.

So there's my fail...getting the wrong paper for what I'm doing!

My eventual goal is to use soft/hard pastels (not oil) and watercolour pencils. If I'm game enough, I might even try watercolour paint (in the cake, not the tube)
