  • Sooo...

So with all the hell of finding a new place I thought I had really found a nice safe place. And yet no...I manage to get in with some folks that had a friend who took off with my two laptops and PS3. I managed to get ONE of the laptops back and so far I hope I will get my PS3 back but I have a feeling that they are gone and I'm just soooo pissed over it.

That sucks. It sounds as if you've barely had time to unpack! Would it be worth it filing a police report (if you haven't already done so)?

Where might this be! Do you know the name and whereabouts of the culprit?

The thing is we think this girl tempted the guy who grabbed my stuff back to her place...where he's wanted by a gang. So basically people in KZoo, somewhere in Indiana, and Chicago want this guys head on a silver platter.

Well I've heard the joke three times now that if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck. Could not sleep at all last night. Every noise in the apartment kept waking me up and for a little while I cried.

The items are material but damnit they were mine. One has pictures on it I can't get back. It has financial stuff that could ruin me more. It has a redbox DVD that I'm going to get charged for. The other has over 600 dollars worth of games that I've gotten over the years. And from what I understand they are tied to the consul. I just feel so violated and like I can't trust anything right now.

Standing at work and silently crying because I can't be with my stuff and know with my own eyes that it too isn't growing legs and walking away.

Picture: Contact the relevant financial contacts and work with them to modify the info so the photo is useless.

Redbox DVD: Inform them it's been stolen and have the police report handy.

Games: There is at current no system that has the games themselves tied to the system (screw you Microsoft! but that's a separate rant). Your account however is tied to the system but simply call Sony, inform them of the problem and they'll release the link. Next time the system is connected online the account gets wiped on the system.

The pictures are from the ex and I in Vegas in both may and feb of last year. Along with some I took while in Pensacola when I was with him.

The financial stuff is my taxes for the past two years.

Have done that, so far I might only have to pay for two days of rental time.

I did not know they could do this. There is a chance that I might get the system back tonight but if I don't I will call Sony in the morning.

The biggest thing I'm kicking myself over was this is the week I was going to be without rental coverage through my insurance cause of the move. If this happened tomorrow everything would have been covered by that.

If you really need to (last resort) you can get a hold of the IRS and get copies of your previous tax returns. If you used a company like Turbo Tax, Tax Online (things like those) you can usually get the last 2 yrs for free.
The tax reports are easy fixes. When you have time, setup a dropbox account or use google drive, retrieve copies of those documents and store there. And/or make a CD of them for later (I burned one before I had used those online storage places).
PS from now on, use those for pics too. I sync pics from my pc to online; 2 sets of stuff period.

You mentioned rental insurance off by one day. Call 'em! The worst they could say is no; the best they could say is yes we will help. You don't know if you don't ask.

And hugs. For fucks's sake, this just sucks. Tell Murphy to go blow himself.

I think I'm misstating myself. I was in the process of buying a house, so I had on my laptops desktop a file that had scanned in copies of my W-2's, copies of my tax returns, saved copies of my bank reports, and something else I had needed to send in at one time. That file is bare on the desktop and easy to open.

I've sent out word that I'm going to give a kill order on the PS3 unless its returned. Hopefully they do return it. I've also put of the word that if my laptop is returned I will pay. Of course I would meet him with my older brother whose a county sheriff deputy.

Huge hugs. That really, truly stinks. I live a little bit south of Miami, FL, and while I moved away for a few years, I've basically lived here all my life. My town was the hardest hit area from Hurricane Andrew in 1992. We lost everything. All the little keepsakes from my childhood, pictures of me, my siblings, my parents and grandparents. Some of those pictures were quite old, from my parents' childhoods. Financial fraud and identity theft was rampant down here for quite some time. We were all devastated and on edge. It sucks to lose such personal memories. In some ways you never really get over it, but at some point you realize that those pictures were just a physical reminder of something that no person can ever take from you: your memories.

I really hope you do recover your stuff, but if you don't, there is a light at the end of this tunnel. You'll get there.
At the conclusion of an Irish wedding, the priest said "Everybody please hug the person who has made your life worth living. The bartender was nearly crushed to death.

A local pawnshop? I can't help but wonder if the stuff wasn't pawned quickly, which leads me to wonder if checking might turn up something.

                          Gee, I wonder why . . . /sarcasm.

Watch your tax returns, and keep a copy of your police report for the foreseeable future. Identity theft for tax returns is a big problem.
