  • Share your favourite apps! (any device)

So I thought it'd be kinda cool to share your favourite apps from whatever device/s you own. Might get some more people interested as well. So here's my list of favourite apps at the moment (on my iPad):

    Useful Stuff:

Show Me/Explain Everything: Similar concept. Basically it lets you take a photo or draw something on the screen, then you can record your voice at the same time. I use it for fun at the moment, but I've used it on pracs to allow my students who had literacy difficulties to record their presentation rather than having to write everything down.

Gmail: Self explanatory. Now I can respond to emails on the run.

imo: Currently my IM client on there and I LOVE IT. So easy to use.

Feedly: I use this at the moment for my RSS feeds (yes Customers Suck is on there too ) since I had trouble with the last feed client I put on there. Word of advice folks: feedly is the BEST. You can also connect it with Google Reader too.

Drawing Pad and Art Set: Two very different apps, but same premise. Drawing pad is a tad more kid-friendly, while Art Set is more realistic. I personally love Drawing Pad at the moment with the new updates...just need to work out how to use my stylus correctly!

Pokedex for iOS: Yes, this is technically a "useful" thing. If you play Black/White/Black 2/White 2, you'll find this very easy to handle. It currently has all the Unova Pokemon, but you can buy packs for the other Pokemon as well. It is VERY thorough though, giving you information such as type, weaknesses, attacks, evolutions, abilities (and what they do), moves...it even lets you select the move and show what it does and how it affects other types. (ie how a normal-type move affects a rock-type)

    Games!

Candy Crush Saga: Ohhh dear god, I officially regret putting Candy Crush on my iPad. SO....damn.....addictive! I can never look at chocolate the same way again after seeing it invade my screen so quickly. But at the same time, I can't stop playing it!

Tapped Out: As I've mentioned, I've had some issues with this app in the past, where I've played and then it's killed my account completely for no reason whatsoever. Here's hoping it'll keep THIS one.

Fashion Star Boutique/Fashion Studio: Again, similar concept (you get given a generic form, you choose what pattern you want on the item of clothing), but it is so much fun creating items. You also have to guess what the client wants. With Fashion Studio you can enter yourself in shows (since a nmber of the clients want paid stuff >_<), while Fashion Star Boutique allows you to create items for clients and play "Guess What The Client Wants"

Robot Unicorn Attack 2: Yes, you know it, you love it, it's BACK on the iPad! They had to remove "Always" though for copyright reasons, but you can buy it on the iTunes store. you also get to customise your unicorn to make him/her have a flaming mane and poop rainbows

Jetpack Joyride: Another "endless run" game, this one has missions where you do things like "zap <x> number of scientists" (yes that's a mission). The missions themselves can get a tad repetitive after a while, but like Robot Unicorn Attack, you can customise your guy. So your jetpack can spew out anything from rainbows to fruit. (Yes, fruit.)

The Sandbox: This game is pixel-based. You get given a whole bunch of elements and you have to play God with them. There is some element of physics in there...for instance, whenever you put soil/sand/stone down to create a lake, then put water in, the water will actally go up into the sky and start creating clouds. (No Big Man in The Sky though)

Let's Make Pottery!: This game is also quite entertaining. Like some of the other games, you have orders you need to fill for clients. There is a challenge though...because you're working with clay, you need to get the colour and shape juuuuuuust right. You can also make your own vases/bowls/jugs and sell them. You can even go ahead and have them re-made for you in 3D.

    And finally...

Little Inferno And World Of Goo: you already know how fantastic these games are. World of Goo works WONDERS on the iPad. Soooo much better.

So, what are your favourite apps?

      Apps I cannot live without-

Pandora and Winamp- Great for both working out in the garage and having music to listen to when I'm in the shower
Flashlight- For those times I need to get around the house when all the lights are off
      Gmail- 'nuff said
Kindle- This one comes in handy mostly if-and-when I leave the house without a book
WhatsApp and Facebook- Two very different apps, but I use them for pretty much the same purpose: IMing people, since I took free monthly texting off of my phone.

Apps I just think are cool-

Google Sky Map- It's not as pretty as the StarWalk app that the iPad/iPhone has, but it does the job well enough.
      DailyHoroscope

      Games-

      Super Sudoku
      Words With Friends
      Scramble With Friends
      Gems With Friends
      Talking Tom series
      Solitaire

If you play tabletop Battletech, Solaris Skunk Werks is a major boon for mech creation and tracking.

            Typo, or Freudian slip?

Believe me, I do the same thing, although I have my oak desk and my miniatures painting station to take over.

Pandora & TuneIn Radio. I've lived all across the States, and it's great to tune into KSHE or WDRV, etc. and hear great tunes professionally delivered, with a bit of 'old home' news thrown in.

Kindle for iPhone. Haven't picked up a deadtree in weeks right now. Quick question though - I've used Calibre forever and have (so far) been converting to generic output. Is there a better selection? Is Kindle on the iPhone markedly different than "Kindle" output?

              TV Forecast.

Redbox. Still buggy and slow, but beats standing next to the machine whilst ma and pa and larry larry and daryl pick out a movie. (And I like to imagine that I've "stolen" their eventual pick out from under them techmagically. )

              Goodreads.

              Wunderground. Decent weather.

Slacker Radio is also very good. You get more of a mix of artists than Pandora.

Artstudio - Glorious art app for make pretty pictures. Fantastic app. I have literally completely converted to working digitally through this app.

                  Autocorrect...so maybe both

It was supposed to be dinner table. She keeps telling me to use my table, but it too full of miniatures that will probably never get painted, and dozens of paintball markers that are in various stages of upgrades and maintenance.

                    Gmail
                    Yahoo mail
                    Chrome
                    You Don't Know Jack
                    Lie Swatter

All apps are for both iPhone and iPad mini.
                    Random conversation:
Me: Okay..so I think I get why Zoro wears a bandana
                    DDD: Cuz it's cool

So, by using the Doctor's reasoning, bow ties, fezzes and bandanas are cool.

                      Aldiko for ebooks
Our Groceries to share shopping lists with Rob
Authenticator for my GW2 account. I wish I could use it for all my online accounts of all types
PDAnet 3.50 to tether to my laptop or tablet in an emergency
                      Skyscape for assorted medical lookups
For the Asus Transformer tablet -
Netflix for aimless movie and tv show watching
Whatever the internal ebook and music apps are that came loaded, I loaded a SD chip with around 450 books and 500 or so songs. When I get around to it I will be adding the movie M by Fritz Lang as it is one of my favorite movies.
I check my mail on the browser - I have a gmail account, 2 earthlink accounts and a GMX [germany] account. I would rather not bother pulling down emails, I would rather go and read my mail online instead.

iPokedex- it only goes up to the 4th generation, but the app is free and rather nice for what you pay for.

Mermaid World- This one is also free. While it is embarrassing to admit that I play it, the art style is gorgeous, that alone is enough to keep me playing.

Sims Freeplay- a simplified version of The Sims. But since it's based around a real time clock, it begins to run your life, making sure your Sims are getting to work, school, etc.

The Sandbox- Totally agree with fireheart, this app is awesome.

Candy Crush Saga- I've downloaded this, what, three times now? Far too addicting. Especially because the OCD gamer in me has to get three stars on every single freaking level... What is "a life"?

Doodle Farm- a spin-off of the game Doodle God (which also has it's own app, but there is a full free flash game that would be just a simple Google search away). Combine different animals and get new ones. For instance, combine a rooster and a chicken to create a chick. Most combinations aren't that simple however.

Flow Free and Flow Line Bridge- puzzle game to connect to dots of the same color on a grid. Flow Line Bridge is pretty much the same game, but lines can cross each other using the bridges.

Life360- Useful for families. Tells where the location of each person's phone is. Useful when perhaps one of the kids has snuck out when they aren't supposed to. Or if someone is lost, or maybe if you're just nosy.
Some people just need a high five...

In the face with the back of a chair....
