  • The really weird poem song game

So a friend of mine had me try this out on paper, and I thought it was really fun. So I figured it might be amusing for the people here at CS to try it out. You put your music player on shuffle and make a poem with the first lines of twenty songs. The twenty first song you listen to will be your title

    So Title= 21

    1
    2
    3
    etc

Break up the stanzas (verses) as you see fit, see if you can get the poem to flow. It ends up being really funny in the end. If you get an instrumental while you are playing, just skip it and go to the next one. This also applies to books and radio plays you may have in your play lists. Make as many poems as you like.

    Here's mine

I want you to want me

When I found her she was waitin at the station door
My heart is beating from me
The minute you walked in the joint
    So you sailed away
They didn't have you where I come from

    Christmas, Christmas Time is near
So what, am I not s'pposed to have an opinion?

    Baby Light a couple candles
Like every tree stands on it's own

    Purpose
I get up on Sunday 'bout 8:15
    I can make anybody pretty
I can't get out of bed today

Dear, Dear Diary I want to tell my secrets
In my dreams I break the chains that hold this place together
    I feel Good
A poor orphan girl named Maria
Today is gonna be the day that they're gonna throw it back to you
Everyone tells you that the minute you get married

We're supposed to start work down on the river today

As you can see this one isn't very cohesive. Luck of the Draw.

Anyway, try it out. And don't cheat.

    Jealous Again

It's hot tonight, lonely black or white
Last night I saw that beauty queen
Stacy's mom has got it going on

Well I'm on the Downeaster Alexa
Why do I have to fly over every turn, up and down the line?
    Muskrat, muskrat, candlelight
I never knew there'd come a day, when I'd be saying to you

A turning tide, lovers at a great divide
Awake on my airplane, awake on my airplane
    I walk along the avenue
I never meant to be so bad to you
    We're talking away

    No matter what you are
    You are an obsession
Guess I got what I deserve
Try to see it my way

I've never seen you look like this without a reason
Look up on the wall, there on the floor
    You got me runnin' baby
I'm on my way, I'm making it

Thanks to Billy Idol, Seether, Fountains of Wayne, Billy Joel, Keane (twice), Captain and Tenille, 38 Special, Filter, A Flock Of Seagulls, Asia, A-Ha, Badfinger (twice), Animotion, The Beatles, Big Country, Genesis, Billy Squier, Peter Gabriel and the Black Crowes for...this.

At least it makes sense, in fits and starts.

Hello I know there's someone out there

      Everybody dance now

      I'm so numb therefore I can't relate
Everytime I'm telling secrets I remember how it used to be
I'm not your boyfriend baby, I ain't your cute little sex toy

Every friday night, there's a steady cloud of dust
Watch out sister watch out brother
my stupid mouth has got me in trouble
when I was just a little baby boy my mama used to tell me these crazy things

I don't practice santeria, I ain't got no crystal ball
You talk to me like we connect, but I don't even know if we're still friends
run and tell all of the angels, this could take all night
sell me candy, like the summer like it's melting in my hand
if I could turn the page

hello mr heartache, I've been expecting you
we were together, I was blown away
there were times I knew, but I found it hard to say
actions are left behind, never to change the signal

oh mama look what I've done
      let's go away for awhile
the window burns to light the way back home

        Here's mine...

        Adoramus Te

Pater Noster qui es in caelis
I'm gonna take my baby on a little joyride
Now truly am I King of the World

O Thou who camest from above
When you ask how I've been here without you,
Stacy's mom has got it going on
        Should auld acquaintance be forgot
Up the street beside the red neon light
Who's that whispering in the trees

Well, I got a little boogie but it ain't too clean

All we've got is this moment
Away with our sorry and care
I woke up this morning feeling kinda blue
Momma, I've got two strong hands

One night, a long time ago, two lovers danced to an old radio
No eye had seen, no ear had heard
I'm far away from what I've known

A lady was walking on a midsummer's day
I feel cold facing the darkness

Saints and children, we are gathered here to hear the sacred story.

I'll tell you the tale of the wicked soldier

What's it gonna be, 'cause I can't pretend

I was once a plain little bird like you, kid
Back when we started, we didn't know how hard it was

All my people in the crowd, grab a partner, take it down

Someone is crying, just now I heard them
You gave up the love you got and that is that
Try not to think, try to behave, try not to think

She got out of town, on a railway New York bound
Looking back on when I was a little nappy-headed boy
Sappy pathetic little me, that was the girl I used to be
As I fall to sleep, will you comfort me?

Baby, do you understand me now?
Lovechild of Genghis Khan and a beautiful busty Amazon
Who do you think you are barging in on me and my guitar?
Never thought I'd want it, never thought I'd need it, never thought I'd want somebody like you

Oh, Mrs. O, will you tell us where the naughty children go?
Your eyes, when we said our goodbyes, can't get them out of my mind
If someone stood up in a crowd and raised his voice up way out loud
I used to think that I could not go on

There are Jews in the World and there are Buddhists

God, make me an instrument of your peace.
            I hurt myself today.
Well, me father often told me when I was just a lad.
Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry.
There are nine million bicycles in Beijing.

Hey, you! You lost your only friend.
            I feel hypnotized.
I look straight in the window.
            Midnights in winter.
I'll wait for you till I turn blue.

            I saw you outside.
In the merry month of June.
Oh the churchbells are ringin' in the schoolyard.
I am a lineman for the county.
            Blue, blue caravan.
If I never feel you in my arms again.
I love Paris in the springtime.
What will we do with a drunken sailor?
Never know how much I love you.
Well, a scotsman clad in kilt left the bar one evening fair.

              How Can I Be Sure

              City life
              Another suburban family morning
Just look at the comfort that you call your home
Every night I say a prayer

              Outside the rain begins
              I don't need an umbrella
Lady you came across the water

You see the world through your cynical eye
              You would say anything
              Hide in your shell

Who is this child that I've never seen before
I can see you in the morning when you go to school
Cherish is a word I use to describe
Passing by you light up my darkest skies
              Slow down some
              Come ride with me

Marvin walked into a helpless land
              Feel the darkness smiling
              Declare this an emergency
              Falling away

Man it was tough putting this together into something that wasn't completely random, and when I finally did I think I got a story about a creepy woman kidnapping a kid named Marvin.

I could be loud man, I could be silent

Step one: you say we need to talk
I have climbed the highest mountains
                Woohoo-hoo

I live in an apartment on the 99th floor of my block
Well I just heard the news today
                I'm a rolling thunder, a pouring rain
                We'll do it all
                Don't think sorry's easily said

                Star lit skies
Come out, Virginia. Don't let me wait
Always on the outside always looking in
                All day
                I am unwritten

                You've got your ball
Are you going to scarborough fair?
In my mind I'm goin' to Carolina
When I think back on all the crap I learned in high school

                Test tubes and Tesla coils,
                On the road again
                She says she's no good

Didn't come out too badly, until the last five songs (although the second 'verse' is a little worrying...). Also nice to know Winamp was out to get me - some of my lesser played music there, and not a single song by any of my top three artists..

Lucky you were born that far away so
Oh, Nick please not so quick

                        I don't have a perfect smile
                        You entered my life unexpectedly*

I'm not the guy who care about love

There's a kind of emptiness that can fill you
In a room full of people hangin on one person's breath

There's somebody I'm longing to see
                        It seems like

Clock in you're at work but you're not working so hard

We've finally got it all out in the open
                        Young and with no clue

                        It's always perfect, always safe
                        You let me violate you

Something in the way she moves

                        However you feel
You want to know where we go from here

                        We don't need no education
                        I love you the best

Come on, here we go again motherf*cker

Wow, mine came out not half bad, actually

                          It's a marvelous night for a moondance

Every time I look at you I go blind
                          I can't escape this hell
Well I hope that I don't fall in love with you

                          I'm standin' on the bridge
A strangled smile fell from your face
Something in me, dark and sticky
Don't let 'em get where they're going to
                          I am colorblind

In this farewell, there's no blood, there's no alibi
You can go to the East to find your, your inner hemisphere
Someone's always coming around here, trailing some new kill
I realized as I lay down to sleep, we haven't spoke in weeks

                          Welcome monsieur, sit yourself down
Love is tragic, love is bold
There you are in the early light of day
The way you're bathed in light reminds me of that night
                          Yeah I heard the news
I don't like to be alone in the night
                          Christmas bells are ringing
Light up a cigarette, she said, and calm the f*** down

I told my roomie about this and she did one too. She gave me permission to post it:

                            I’ve Tried So Many Times

You know this boogie is for real
                            all the leaves are brown
                            oh lord,won’t you buy me
did you think they’d part the seas for you like Moses
                            I had a roof overhead
                            she got out of town
                            I’m coming up
                            situation number 1
I wrote a goodbye note in lipstick on your arm
talk to me, tell me your name
this ain’t a song for the broken hearted
                            your construction
woke up to the sound of pouring rain
I feel stupid - but I know it won’t last for long
                            hello I love you
                            I wanna run
landing on a runway in Chicago
regrets are all you left on your lipstick stains
my heart ticks in beat with these kids I grew up with
                            highway run
I don't go in for ancient wisdom
I don't believe just 'cause ideas are tenacious

Man it was tough putting this together into something that wasn't completely random, and when I finally did I think I got a story about a creepy woman kidnapping a kid named Marvin.
You didn't mess with the order did you. The poem you got was from in order from 1-20, correct. Because the first few Stanza seem a little too well put together
