  • Testing the imaginary with the unavailable

We got a little love-note over the holiday weekend from one of the managers. He basically scolded us for not having made more progress on testing product version X, especially on hardware Y.

Today, through other channels, we found out that product version X doesn't actually exist yet (they haven't decided on an Official Test This One Build)--and, as we already knew, there are about one-fifth as many pieces of hardware Y as we need to actually test it quickly.

... Thank goodness we are "focusing on quality" so that we aren't going to be pushed to simply get product out the door, huh?
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

    Make sure

You are keeping copies of the manager's email with dates and the information about the unavailability of hardware and software also dated to show how hard his request would be.

I keep copies of all emails... I've got a lot of storage on this laptop, might as well use it for more than just iTunes.

That one sounds like it should be framed and hung on the wall.
