I heard the phone ring this morning but (as per usual) didn't rush to answer it. Later checked and found a message, which was basically "You have an appoint on [date]; unfortunately our specialist is not available that day so your appointment has been rescheduled for [new date]."

    Notice what's missing?

    NO IDENTIFICATION of who's calling.

Luckily the automated answering service had the phone number.

I had to get acerb with my dental office ... I cancelled last early summer's routine appointment for a deep cleaning because I was on chemo and had no real immune system and my oncologist didn't want to put me on antibiotics at that point in time. When I called to cancel, I specifically said I was in chemo and was told very specifically no dental work until my immune system was back up unless it was an emergency like a broken or lost filling ... then the auto-reminder for an appointment I didn't schedule showed up on my phone. Turns out that they have some sort of computer program that will automatically set a replacement appointment without contacting a human, as if - oh I don't know, people don't have jobs, responsibilities or other appointments ... so I stumped into the office wearing my infusion pump and pointedly told them they are never allowed to autoset an appointment for me again or I will leave the practice entirely and I would be calling them when *I* was ready for my next appointment.
