  • Was anyone else geeky enough to go to The Avengers last night at the midnight showing

I have to admit, at 51 I think I was the oldest one there, but it was AWESOME!

I went! Saw a group of guys in their 20s who squeezed into the Captain America and Thor kid's masks, and a guy in a full Thor costume! Awesome movie, completely worth it; though I thought there was going to be a riot when there were 8 previews!

I have a friend that tweeted at the half-hour mark.

Alas, I have work and other crap to deal with and thus was unable to attend.

However, I will be seeing it on Tuesday. (local theater does a discount, but it's going to be packed)

I am waaaaay excited about seeing it, but I'm cheap and I have an especially low tolerance for crowds of stupid people lately. I plan on going probably not this Monday, but the next and catching a matinee during school hours. Let the hype die a little bit and go when not as many people will or can.

Going to the midnight showing just means you're braver than I am.

The film itself was absolutely awesome. While it didn't have as many visuals as Thor did (I seem to recall the term "screen porn" was used at some point), it was still absolutely amazing.

I will not be able to see it for another two weeks, and a Facebook friend just dropped a huge spoiler on her status.

Even worse, I can't call her out on it because she is one of those people who seems constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown so pointing out that she just ruined the movie for me might send her over the edge.

Edit: It would not have been a big spoiler except...I read comic books. So when she dropped the name, I knew exactly who she meant. Someone unfamiliar with the Marvel universe (who only saw the movies) probably wouldn't have a clue.

But then, she knows some of her friends are comics fans. Grrrrrr.

I'm so sorry AnaKhouri..that is why I just said it was awesome..and it WAS! Going to the midnight show was a kick, I went with both my sons and my surrogate son (he's in the Army, and he and his wife are my kids. His parents send us Christmas Cards from signed Mom and Dad 1 to Mom and Dad 2, lol).

We had a blast! There were tons of people dressed up, and we had 15 previews..yes, 15. It took forever, but the movie was totally worth the extra price (they doubled the ticket price for the shows). The theater sold out 10 of 12 screens, and a good time was had by all.

I rarely, and I mean RARELY, see movies in 3D because of the price but since I had a closing shift tonight and the normal showing wasn't until a couple of hours before I was supposed to go in, I got the first 3D showing of the morning. I usually do this to avoid crowds and the kids, since in normal circumstances I share the theater with no more then five other people.

Not today. Today the place was PACKED, and I saw why -- IT WAS AWESOME! This is the first movie since Spiderman 2 that I'm thinking of seeing again just because of how awesome it was. I'm not a big comic fan but still.....
Eh, one day I'll have something useful here. Until then, have a cookie or two.

I don't see movies in 3D much either. And I agree it's a movie I'd like to see again.

I wish I could see it. Being majorly down in the dumps kinda messes things up. Hoping to do my geek thing when Batman comes out.

That was my favourite part of the film. I utterly corpsed and had to fight to breathe. ^^ I'd only ever corpsed in the cinema once before, and that was during the swearing scene in the King's Speech.

Actually this has to be one of the funniest movies I've seen for a long time. So many great quips, one-liners and little scenes. Hilarious. ^^

My favorite part was the Hulk/Thor thing..after they finished fighting the bad guys. HYSTERICAL!

And yes, this was the funniest movie in a long time, great comedy as well as fighting and kicking ass. Scarlet Johannsen was great as Black Widow, and of course Robert Downey Jr rocks as Ironman. All the rest were wonderful too. I have to go back and see this movie again, and buy it on Blue ray, and have multiple copies so I never have to go without it...yes...that's the ticket...

It was great, and I really think they did an excellent job on this one. The graphics were beautiful, the storyline was tight, can't wait til the next one comes out!
