  • Do you remember this "learning typing" program?

Anybody remember "Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing"?

Well, for years I've had the hilarious idea of making a spoof of it called "Beavis & Butt-Head Teach Typing".

Where, as you type, for each correct letter you get one of their signature laughs, and if you make a mistake, you get an insult...

I don't know if I should laugh, or be offended...

A sound clip for every letter you type? That would be... very noisy.

And the thunk-clackety-ding-kerchunk of a Remington is silent?

                  Yeah, probably.

But could you imagine hearing "heh heh mm heh mm huh huh, heh heh" as you type?

But if that's too much, it could just say an insult every time a letter is missed.

I do remember Mavis Beacon - one of the many touch typing training aids I used in my teens. At my best I was doing roughly 120 wpm (at over 98% accuracy!), at that sort of speed a sound clip for every letter you type would be.... horrendous.

Now the old mechanical typewriters - not silent no, but I always found the sound kind of soothing. Given my family jokes that I'm married to my computer, would that make them a sort of ... ex-'boyfriend'?
