Ok I just had to share this with everybody. This happened on Monday afternoon. Ok I work security at the main downtown branch of the city's library. Any way a staff member walks up and tells us that one of our "regulars"(drunk homeless) is sitting at a table and had a bottle of liquor with him. So my boss and I go over and we see "Happy" sitting there with a big bottle of XXX Sherry(real cheap booze) under his feet. Now first I need to give you a little background on Happy. I call him happy because when he's drunk he tells everybody he loves them and try's to shake your hand. Pretty much most words out of his mouth is "I Love you!" This got him into trouble in the past where he got barred for a while because when he was in a elevator he approached 2 young teen girls and said "I love you, i'm your daddy!"
so he was barred for a while for that. Anyway we approach him and he just sitting there staring into space.
MR.S: Hey happy, you know you can't have open liquor here you have to leave
Happy: Ok I love you, I'm going, I love you *points at my boss* I love that guy
Boss: Ok, happy lets get going
Happy: Ok, I love you
as we are escorting him out he then hugs my boss going "I love this guy so much, I love you!" He then leaves, cut to 15mins later i'm up on this walkway system and I look out the window and I see Happy walking so I keep watching him and then he does something that shocked the hell out of me he starts to walk in the middle of the street against the flow of traffic
From what I could see he was either trying too panhandle at the cars or telling them he loves them. Now this is during rush hour so there are tons of cars whipping by and having to stop and swerve out of the way. the traffic clears and he goes back to the sidewalk only to head right back into the street when the traffic picks up again
My Boss and another guard rush out there to try and stop him from doing this. We also called the downtown watch(there a downtown patrol that are like cops but with less power) My Boss was following him down the street trying to call him over saying "Happy come here, I need to talk to you come on!" and all Happy did was
and go "I Love you!" and then continued down other roads popping in and out of traffic. My boss chased him for a good 4 blocks before catching up with him and holding him for the downtown watch. When they finally arrived Happy decided he needed a drink and tried to take a swig off he Sherry
of course they took it away
I have to admit this was a first time I was general scared for one of our regulars. I watched him come inches for getting hit at least a dozen times. it's a damn miracle he didn't get hurt or worse
