Default The Scratch!

Being a car salesman isnt easy, heres one im STILL dealing with, only one other customer is worse so far and ill type that epic saga up later.

Ok so in comes this customer, a girl my age, looking for a new SUV. Shes in with her mother, i do the whole walk around, sales pitch and test drive, she loves it, awesome!

The mother acts as her co signer, but her credit is too new to get approved, the girl brings in her mother in law to co sign, they get approved, sign the papers and everything is going swimmingly....so i think. An hour later her husband calls and starts to haggle, this is where the suck begins, i give him a better price and off we go.

(giving up the quotes and summarising now, just for the sake of consistency...recalling convos just makes me angry)

Every vehicle we sell, we look over, i notice that our new wash bay boy has put a 2" scratch in the back, when my customer arrives (before her mother in law) to finalise the paper work, i point it out to her so that she knows whats up and i offer to buy a paint pen to correct the problem (its so minor that it cant be seen in the sun, only in the shade). She agrees, her mother in law arrives and they go finish signing the paperwork.

When theyre done, i begin showing them arround the vehicle, my customer points out the scratch to her mother in law and comments like "oh, you accepted that, a paint pen? This is unacceptable" and finally "Let me talk to a manager!" fly out of her mouth.

My manager takes them in his office, explains that we will try to polish it and if that fails we can paint it, the motheri n law demands money here and there, but is thwarted by my managers awesomeness. Im not present for the full meeting, but everyone seems satisfied.

A week later she brings in her vehicle to have a minor complaint looked after by our service department, and the vehicle is left here all day, things get busy and the scratch repair guy doesnt show up, service calls her before me to pick up the vehicle. I apologise and ask if we can get herin the next day, she says shell be in around 2, i book the guy, she doesnt show. Awesome

Fast forward to today, her and her husband come in, try to threaten and brow beat me into more money and free service stuff, i call the scratch guy in on his day off to come fix the problem, and theyre supposed to be back at 3. Well see hwo it goes.

I hope this fixes the confusion, im still seething over the way these people treat me, i understand their frustration but trying to intimidate me isnt going to make things better.

Woah there. Settle down. You lost me after the first couple sentences.

Those stories are not easy to follow if you keep skipping things and jump from one thing to the other.

Sounds like she didn't mind the scratch so much as her significant others did! Are they trying to play the hero for her or what? Car's going to get many more scratches in its life, you offered to fix it even after she'd accepted it, done deal. Hope they back off!
