We're trained to ask these questions in order and after a while it becomes habitual to us. Even if you're a regular and order the same thing LOL Besides, just like most places, we have secret shoppers too and we'll get dinging if we don't say the right spiel to the customers.

Plus sometimes regulars will want to change up what they have.

I'm a regular and generally order the same thing. However after giving my order of size, bread, and sandwich, I wait for the questions.

When I go to Way of the Sub, I tend to order the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich. Everytime I get asked if I want Ranch Dressing on it. I just don't understand it. Without Ranch Dressing, it isn't a Chicken Bacon *Ranch*.

At my work I have a regular customer who gets ranch dressing on his caesar salad, I find it odd but it takes all sorts.

After reading some of the Subway horror stories, I now tell the sandwich artists "I want only one sub today", to make their job easier. Sometimes I'll ask about their horror stories though.
