Default Do you have?

Had a call on Monday.

"Do you have or do you know where I can get organic, fair trade bacon?"

Everything we do is vegetarian, and I don't even think such a product exists.

Organic bacon exist, or existed, I ate some last week . Fairtrade - I don't think so. You do not import bacon from third world countries, so fair trade doesn't really enter into it.

Certainly Sir/Ma'am, Any local butcher in <insert 3rd world country> should be have that in stock. however, they only accept orders in person.

Here in the States, Applegate Farms does organic bacon. ("Food, Inc" has ruined bacon shopping for me ) Dunno about fair trade, though. Best get your piggy directly from the farm.

(And, erm...a quick Google search of "organic bacon" turned up this: http://www.freshstep.com/bacon/ ...that's bacon-scented kitty litter? That's an actual thing? I'm...no, I'm not surprised.)

Fair trade applies to regulations set so that First World countries cannot take advantage of Third World countries by giving them less than what their product is worth. Companies do not have to abide by it, but those who do will broadcast it, and be proud - as they should be.

So "fair trade" wouldn't apply unless the bacon was coming from a third world country, which - no offense to the country - I'd be leery of eating.

Bacon smells so good when it's being cooked. However, after an extended period of time it makes me nauseated, the same with tuna fish. Also I wouldn't want my cat trying to eat the litter.

That's pretty much the size of it. My mom didn't even start buying bacon in a grocery store until after Grandaddy died and she and Grandma had to move off the farm.

One advantage of living on a farm: plenty of bacon . . . and you knew where it came from b/c your family raised the pigs and every fall after the first frost they'd start the butchering so you'd have plenty in the smokehouse for the upcoming winter months.

Now I'm hungry. Thanks a lot guys.
