Strange encounter at the movies
Not sucky, more funny, and a good example of how deeply you can be caught in your routine...
A couple of friends and I went to see Wolverine yesterday (decent movie; nothing I hadn't expected, but nothing that wasn't cool, either), and two of us went upstairs to get some snacks. My friend wanted to pick up some popcorn for herself and her girlfriend, I was aiming for a coke.
Now, the cinema offers three sizes of popcorn: Small, Large, and Jumbo. Why they're called that, no idea. When it was our turn, my friend asked for a "mittlere Popcorn" - which means, the size in the middle - medium, or so. Not the smallest, not the largest. However, the girl behind the counter just blinked at her in surprise.
"We don't have a medium size; we only have Small, Large and Jumbo."
My friend blinked back, worked things out in her head for a moment, then answered. "Okay, I'll have a Large then."
Again, no suckiness involved, just somewhat... funny.
