Color Catastrophe
Well work had been busy (thank god, im finally making some money in this car business thing!) but heres a real gem from a few days ago.
Now i had been talking to this lady for about 3 weeks. She wanted a certain car we had on our lot, she origonally went to another dealer and had ordered the one off of our lot and cancelled due to them not treating her well. Fair enough, ill get the deal.
So in our conversations i make it VERY clear that if she doesnt want to leave the $500 deposit, then i cant make sure the vehicle will be here when she arrives. But the good news was we had 2 vehicles, one grey, and one black, NO other differences otherwise. Since she lived six hours away i told her if she wanted the grey one, then she should put a deposit on it. When she called me before she left i said she should put a deposit on it.
She didnt, so as shes pulling into the parking lot i notice my fellow sales guy putting a "sold" sign in the grey one. Awesome.
So i walk up to her and say "I have really bad news, the grey one JUST sold, but we still have the black one, which you said would be good as well!"
SHE FREAKED OUT!!!!!
She started hitting her legs, stomping around the lot, screaming "YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME" cussing at me and other un lady like beheviour.
This went on for about 20 minutes. She eventually calmed down and bought it, but ended up bending me over anyways....so all my work and abuse worked out to put $135 in my pocket.
Hardly worth the fuss at all.

Geez. Sure I'd like to have a certain color for my car but I wouldn't make a huge fuss about it. The color doesn't effect how it works.

Geeze, that lady really needed to take responsibility for the fact she lost her chance and move-on. She would have had to pay anyway, what's wrong with putting some down; it's like she didn't trust you or something.
Personally, I'd go with grey too; not too light, not too dark, doesn't show dirt as much as black.

Not only that, but it doesn't fade as bad as the black and red cars do. But other than that, why give a shit about the color of the car? It's not the paint that drives you to and from point A to B, but the engine. It's sad how some people go into 2 year old mode over the most trivial shit.

There's also the notion of getting the car painted afterwards....
...but that'd make sense.
