Oh, they still do that quite a bit.
I just haven't seen it in any recent episodes....maybe the jetpack episode??? I dunno. This season has been kinda meh for me anyway.

Back to football, I dunno, I just like the underdogs. And it makes for a good story - a metaphor for a rebuilt New Orleans, right before Mardi Gras....that's just too good!

Yea, see, I completely disagree with this. Yes, they had a horrible natural disaster. I like to see people root for a football team for a reason that has something to do with the team itself. No one roots for any of the California teams after earthquakes, mudslides, or wildfires. No one rooted for the Colts because Garcon's family is from Haiti. No one rooted for the Jets/Giants because of 9/11. Why should the Saints get special treatment?
I tend to agree with you, I mentioned to my wife last night that I hope the Saints winning gets us past the whole "The city deserves this". Aside from Katrina, New Orleans had never won ANYTHING so they did in that since though.

But you're wrong in a way. After 9/11 The Yankees went to the World Series and Fox, et. al made a huge deal about it. The Patriots went to the Super Bowl and again, media - huge deal.

Saying no one rooted for the Colts because of Garcon, Vilma's also Haitian/American so it kinda balances out.

I don't think the American people as a whole make such a big deal about the Katrina thing (no one I know does/did), Americans love an underdog, and in this instance the Saints fit that bill.

Why did I cheer for the Saints? Well my favorite teams are the Packers and the Ravens. Ravens were eliminated by the Colts (I could give a damn about the Baltimore Colts thing, it was 26 years ago, time to move on). And the Packers eliminated by the Cardinals, who went on to play the Saints. Then there was the Favre thing.

I believe the state of Louisiana is still partying! Of course, there is going to be a parade in New Orleans on Wed or Thur in honor of the Saints winning. Which won't be hard to pull together as Mardi Gras started last week, just throw some gold and black on that there float. THROW ME SOMETHIN' MISTER!!

The state pride is swelled up around here, and I'm glad for it. Now get off my lawn!

That was about as satisfying as a Super Bowl can be for me if the Packers don't win it.

I went to bed at halftime, slept a little bit, and woke up just in time to see the interception being returned for a touchdown.

After (hopefully) sending Burnt Fart into retirement knowing his last pass was an interception that cost his team the game, I was pulling hard for the Saints to win, even though I had a feeling the Colts would end up winning, and it looked that way early on.

I wanted the Colts to lose just to tease my mom.
I normally root for the Giants cuz my dad hates them.
Otherwise, I really couldn't care less. (Not like this guy....) I told my cousin's son I was rooting for "the blue team" cuz I like blue.

(which weren't all that great, either)
I thought that, too. Except I've had the "Superbowl Shuffle" stuck in my head since yesterday....

And I liked the Bud commercial with the Clydesdale foal and the calf. That was cute.

Of course, the real game to watch was the Puppy Bowl! This year there were bunny cheerleaders, in addition to the annual Kitty Halftime Show.
And don't forget the sky view with the hamsters! That's is what I usually watch. This is the first year I've ever watched the Superbowl....or cared to.

Yes, they are. And I dare say it's one of the best reasons to ever jump on a bandwagon that I've seen. Not that the Saints are winning, which is the usual reason. But because the Saints are winning, AND that New Orleans was virtually destroyed four and a half years ago. If ever any city deserved something like this, it is New Orleans. I have no problem with people jumping on this bandwagon, and I am normally an anti-bandwagon type guy.

To their credit, I have yet to see a Saints fan who derides the bandwagoners and proclaims their own "true" fandom by comparison, which you almost always see with any team that does well after years of sucking. I give major props to the Big Easy football fans for that.
I couldn't have said it any better myself. I've been a Saints fan for years. Anyone else wants to root for them, they're more than welcome.

I got a little bit mad at one of the pharmacists at work. He was of the opinion that the Saints didn't deserve to be in the Superbowl. I asked him why not since they won the necessary games to get there. He didn't have an answer. I wonder if he still doesn't think that they didn't belong there?

Yea, that really doesn't make sense. They dominated all year. They have one of the best QBs in the league. Other than their defense, they were freaking amazing.

I'm also in the deep south an I had an absolute blast last night watching the game at a firends place. Everyone down here is so pumped and excited, the positive vibes are just great.

That onside kick was legendary.

Agreed. That's one of the ballsiest moves I've ever seen in the Super Bowl. That'll be on highlight reels for years to come.
