Going to Florida for the Mars Rover launch!!!

Got my confirmation email today: I'm off to Cape Canaveral for the launch of the Mars Science Lab/Curiosity rover!

*happy dance*

I was part of the first ever NASATweetup at Jet Propulsion Labs, when this rover was just a big white box. I watched it being built, tested, and packed up via webcam. I've seen it from the viewing gallery 3 times.

And now I get to watch her fly.

One of the things I'm looking forward to most about the trip is getting to go back to the Cocoa Beach Brewing Co. Good beer, great location, and always packed with fellow Twitter friends talking about anything and everything.

Now there are TWO reasons I want to go!

Do they have a specific date for the actual launch? Thinking of sneaking up there for a quick road trip. After all, it's only 450 miles away.....about a 9 hour drive each way. Could make for a fun quickie road trip.

The launch window opens on November 25, which will be the first launch attempt. If it doesn't go up that day, they'll keep trying every day after that (providing the weather is clear).
