  • Odd... Very very odd

Anyone who has worked in a call center knows, there are many callers with alot of strange background noise. I have heard porn, spousal fights, explosions, gun fire, and the apocalypse. But today what I heard was a tad disturbing.

The lady was nice enough, she wasn't the problem. In the background there was this low monotone chanting. By children. And I don't mean for a moment, like she was watching a movie and it was one scene. It didn't sound like a religious ceremony, because it was definately the same phrase over and over, whatever it was. It went for the duration of the call. All 45 minutes... It was slowly getting more intense too, as if they were trying to invoke the depths Hell, raise R'lyeh, open the Void, take your pick.

The kicker, when I asked the lady about it... She had no idea what I was talking about. Strange I tell you.

If you heard occasional banging throughout the chant, then the kids were emulating Monty Python's the Holy Grail. If there was no banging accompanying the chanting, its best to hope that these children of the corn don't find you.

Maybe whoever was chanting is the same thing that keeps opening my closet door!!

I once heard a pig squeeling in the background, and then a gun shot, and then someone yelling "Goddamnit Jeffry, get back here!".

Yeah, So happy to be out of that call center, lol.

I once overheard some hillbilly tell someone to "just punch him in the gut while we're here. We don't want to have to come back and I have to use the bathroom!" I didn't ask & he didn't elaborate!

This is a reach but she has a child with autism & just doesn't notice the chanting anymore? Yeah. I got nothin'.
I'm sorry, the person to whom you were speaking has been replaced by a recording. Please leave your message at the sound of the beep.

I've heard toilets flushing, sex noises, & also long drawn out sniffs. I can only imagine what that last noise I mentioned was.

The water pressure in the house I grew up in sucked. As a teenager, I used to have phone conversations with my friends if they called when I was in the shower. Since the spray from the shower head barely covered half the tub, if you stood on the far side of the tube you stayed dry. More than once my best friend or girlfriend stopped in mid-conversation and said, "dude are you in the shower?".

Just because a customer expects you to put some effort into your job, that does not make them an SC.
