  • Went to a job fair this morning

Went to a job fair this morning at one of the hospitals near where my husband and I live. I registered for the job fair last month.

When I spoke to the people at the registration table at the job fair, I was asked what type(s) of job(s) I was looking for. I told them housekeeping, clerical, patient escort. Anything I am qualified for.

One of the ladies at the registration desk took me over to a table staffed by 2 Aramark employees. I spoke to the HR director for Aramark, and she told me that the hospital has a contract with them for housekeeping and valet. She asked me what hours I was looking for. I told her full-time days. She said that was available, and she gave me her business card as well as some paperwork to complete. She also asked me if I have access to a computer to complete an application, and I told her yes, I do. She also explained the hiring process.

    Keeping my fingers crossed.

    Good luck, Ms. Girl!
“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged.
One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world.
The other, of course, involves orcs." -- John Rogers

I applied on-line for the job this afternoon.

Since this is a job at a hospital, I have to have some pre-employment testing done. Basically getting my blood drawn for testing. So I will do that tomorrow.

One thing that might be suggested is a vaccination against TB. If it's only suggested, rather than required, don't get it. It's NOT effective in preventing TB, but it DOES trigger antibody production, so it will change your status on the standard test for TB from "never been exposed" to "have been exposed at some point" - making it worse than useless.
Any fool can piss on the floor. It takes a talented SC to shit on the ceiling.

          I agree on that.

When I once worked at a homeless shelter, we all got screened for TB once or twice a year (through a simple chest X-ray, the local hospital has a mobile lab that visits different shelters on rotation), since we got told that it would be easy to treat just as long as they caught it early on.

Another theory states that this has already happened.

            I am frustrated

I went to the clinic to have the pre-employment test. I brought the necessary paperwork except for the drug test. Somehow I forgot to bring it.

The clinic did the drug test anyway, and the tech filled out a form. She also gave me a toll free number to call, so the results can be expedited.

I felt bed for forgetting the form though.

            I hope everything goes OK
