I get the impression from the article that she'd already tried this.... And they just nosed it open and "DINGDONG". I'd be going to the shelter and getting a dog... A big one... Like a GSD or a Husky, something that looks wolf-ish to a deer. Triple as general protection and a companion And lo, the deer'd stay away! Maybe.
