Every year at my retail job, we hold a Christmas party (sponsored and paid for by us, the employees).
So a day or so ago, ass't. mgr. says to me, "You ARE coming to the party, right?" (I'm rather notoriously anti-social

I asked where it was, and Long-Time-Ago Manager (who hired me and who has recently returned as a plain team member) says, "Oh, [Former Manager who recently left us left VERY abruptly] is hosting it."
Me:
Why in hell would she do that? Yes, she's still got friends among the staff, and no doubt they will get together, but ... host the STORE'S Christmas party when she no longer works there?
Former manager had it wrong, of course; the party is in fact being held at a local bar (I think). But whatever made her think her scenario was in any way feasible ...
