  • A Belated R.I.P. To Cartoon Pioneers Ruby & Spears

    Ken Spears died on November 6th of complications from Lewy Body Dementia at age 82.

    Joe Ruby died on August 26 of natural causes at age 87.

    May they both rest in peace. v_v

    These are the guys who created the venerable Scooby-Doo and many, many others (with the help of folks such as Jack Kirby!) that a lot of us remember from our childhoods.

    Interesting side note, courtesy of the video – In his final major work, The Demon-Haunted World, Carl Sagan lauded their work on Scooby-Doo for encouraging kids to seek out rational explanations for supernatural/paranormal phenomena.
