Has anyone ever shipped pizzelles? (or any fragile cookie)

I'd like to send some pizzelles to my family for Christmas this year, but I'm concerned that they will arrive in crumbs. For those who are not familiar, pizzelles are a very thin, delicate Italian cookie made with a pizzelle iron (similar to a waffle iron, but the result is much thinner than a waffle.) I'm planning on sending a lot (probably one whole batch, so around 3 dozen) and am looking for ways to ship them without them breaking too much. Any suggestions?

I'd say if they're riding in a container, bag them and pad the inside of the container with tissue paper, I do that for my peanut butter blossoms, it might look a bit silly, but it'll minimize the scooting and tossing around in shipping, also, those are pretty cookies!

Set up a system to roll them - stack a bunch, wrap in saran wrap and foil, then pack around the wrapped cookielogs with padding like ghostturds, bubblewrap, air packs, or newspaper. Or any mix of the above. I do that with my gingerbread, which tends to be fragile.

Because they're Italian cookies, I asked my husband about them. (he's full-blooded)

And now he wants some. Apparently Mom used to make a bunch of them. So now I need to buy a press.

We tested this last year when we mailed Suvarovs (very thin almond flour cookies w/ jam in the middle, fragile as all get out, but so tasty) across the country it actually worked fairly well by wrapping everything in loads of paper towels and packing them in ridged containers, filled in with more paper towels (I don't remember if we used metal or cardboard though).
