  • Bond. James Bond.

Not long now until Skyfall! Anyone else going to see it? I just bought a ticket for the midnight showing tonight. It's going to be awesome (or so I've heard).

I actually made a point of watching Casino Royale (as I hadn't seen it) recently so that I'd have a better idea of the character for when Skyfall comes out.

The trailers actually make me interested, which a lot of trailers fail to do. Rotten Tomatoes gives a critic rating of 93% with over 100 reviews, so that's really heartening, too.

But we probably won't catch if for a couple of weeks. We hate dealing with the crowds during opening week.

I saw it last week (went with my brother and dad). Spoiler free version - in my opinion, one of the best bond films to date, if not the best.

Very, very good. Excellent writing and a decent mixture of laughs and pulling at your emotions. Tipped the hat many times, but I'll not say to what.

I'll be watching it tomorrow at cheaper matinee prices.

Just saw it's 163 minutes. Holy crap.

The places I've been to say 143, though there's the possibility for error.

From what I've heard the best way to watch the latest movies is to treat them as though they're a trilogy instead of separate missions like the previous films were.

                  The first two, definitely.

The third one? Eh, not really so much.

Honestly, even though I liked this movie, I loved Casino Royale a lot more and I liked Quantam of Solace more too. Just didn't like the flow of the movie or the villain.

I actually liked this one more than the first two (D.C. Bond films). I think that the nods were excellent and well timed. I thought the humor from Bond was top notch, and the way he and Bardiem played off of each other was superb and fits with the times. Highlight for a line, but I whited it out ["How do you know I've never done this before?"

This outing kept my attention in ways that QoS never did, and the characters felt more fleshed than CR.
Oh yeah, I love Dame Judy Dench!

Was I the only one who expected Kincaid [to be played by Sir Sean Fucking Connery?] It would have been a great nod to the series, and Kincaid's best line ("Welcome to Scotland!") would have been awesome.

I liked the movie very much.

I loved it. I saw it in IMAX, and I have to say, the elevator scene (the people who saw it know what I'm talking about) gave me serious vertigo... I have issues with heights, and normally I'm good as long as I'm behind glass, but this, just watching it on the screen I was freaking out. Damned good cinematography.

One thing I liked was the actual AVERSION of the typical action movie tropes of bottomless magazines and nigh-instantaneous injury recovery. [Bond's injured shoulder causes him a lot of grief for part of the movie.]

I liked Q's smug little put-down to previous Bond gadgetry, too.

Bond: "A gun and a radio? Not exactly Christmas."
Q: "What were you expecting, an exploding pen? We don't really go in for that sort of thing anymore."

Just curious, but how did a hot property like James Bond fall into the hands of a movie company most people have never heard of? After all, "IMT made the Sky Fall".

MGM or EON? EON's had Bond forever. And MGM been around since the golden days of Hollywood.
                              I guess I don't get the joke.
