So recently a couple regulars have asked various questions about the company I work for. One was regarding sales and coupons, the other was about stocking. Neither one was sucky, really. I guess they shouldn't assume I know anything regarding the motivations of a giant national company, but they weren't being accusatory or anything. Anyway, in both situations I found myself responding in the same fashion.
"Oh, I don't know. When I'm here I turn my brain off. It's the only way I can function."
This is not how I would respond to everyone. I just happen to know these people are nice, and they only asked me because I help them week after week. Anyway, is this just me? I really do turn my brain off. I make inane conversation. I follow all kind so policies with I don't agree with. I don't think "why" I just do. That's just the way it is! But I don't know, saying it twice in one week just brought it home.
I need to get the hell out of here.
