  • Really wish my partner would read his texts properly sometimes.

The other day I told him that a small clothing store happens to carry a particular brand of underwear he likes (for the Aussies, think of Mr "Honey Badger", you'll know EXACTLY what I'm on about) and is otherwise fairly hard to find where we are.

Him: "I didn't think that the store carried that stuff."
Me: "They do carry men's clothing y'know!"

Turns out he'd somehow mixed up the local clothing store with a lingerie shop I'd been looking at getting some stuff for a lyra performance at.

    • We have a 'Breakfast Club' at my apartment; I'm pretty sure it used to be scheduled from 8-9 on Tuesdays (or maybe 7-8) when I first moved in. I'm not an early-morning riser so never made it there.

I noticed this year it's scheduled on Tuesdays from 8-10, so I thought yay, I can do it! Got down there this morning at about 9:30.

She was pretty much closed down, because everybody else had left.

      Soooo ... it's not really 8-10, then ... ? More like 8-9:15? If that?

I got a cup of coffee, for which I had forgotten to bring change, so will make the effort to get there next week, return the cup, pay for my coffee and have breakfast ... and that will be it, I think. I'll stick to the Friday luncheons.

      • I'm wearing a long denim skirt at work today for our "jeans for genes" charity dress down day. It just occurred to me that this skirt is actually older than some of my work colleagues! I have got to mention that when they come in...

        • Google showed me all these headlines about how a panel in a new comic shows Batman's 'Wayne family treasure' when he takes off his batsuit. Totally stupid and besides, I had to look really hard for a long time to see what they were talking about.

It's almost a shame that you don't still have the receipt for the skirt ... how much fun would it be to bring that into work and show it around.

I can *remember* the first pair of bellbottoms I ever bought, but I don't still have 'em ... and they wouldn't fit me if I did.

            • Anything that is on top of a gas stove when the oven is in use will heat up...even the salt cellar gets warm and it's not even actually on the stove. No, it doesn't matter that our 'nice' olive oil and the Brita aren't directly on the cooktop but on a plastic cutting board on top of the unused burners (which BTW is dangerous in itself)....the water I just poured myself is noticeably warm and the oven's been off for four hours. That's gross and can't be good for the filter. And I think I should have a say in how the oil is stored seeing as I'm the one paying for it (tip: heat is bad).

              • Some time ago, I took out a small loan at a payday loan place to help pay off two credit cards (both of which were long since closed). Canadian laws are fairly tough on these guys; I don't think they can gouge customers the way I've heard happening in other places. The one I go to has got a gigantic sign on the wall telling you what you will pay for one of their loans compared to what you'd pay for an equal loan from your credit card company (hint: A LOT MORE. But for those of us who had lousy credit ...)

My loan was for roughly $2,000.

So anyway, this loan is chugging along, paying off slowly but surely ... and now I'm getting letters from them telling me they are SO happy with my payment history that I'm eligible to refinance my loan and indeed get up to $15,000!

Yay! Just what I need -- a HUGE WHACKING ADDITIONAL DEBT!!

Think I'll pass on that, thanks ...

There never was one. It came from a charity shop in the early 2000's. Goodness knows how old it was then, since it was worn soft when I got it!

                  • Son's teacher: It really feels like fall today!

It is 87 degrees. I wear shorts and sandals. Sweat trickles down my neck.

                    Me: Uh-huh.

I'm not even a Yankee, I'm from a state widely considered to be the South...but these deep South people sure have some skewed perspectives.

                      .
When I convert that into Celsius, I get 30C. That's...definitely not fall weather.

Although it gets kind of funny when I hear my colleagues who were born and bred in Sydney complain about 35C or higher in summer, while lil ol' me came from a part of the country where 40+ degree days were not uncommon.
