I haven't tried it. Just saw the link as I was trying to cure boredom. I am the only person alive who actually hasn't has problems with Vista.

I didn't have too many problems with Vista, just a few. My main complaint was that it seemed to be much slower than 7 is now. That's the main reason I upgraded.

I haven't had any problems with Vista either. But I'm probably the only person that dumped XP and went back to ME.

The God Mode trick worked for me with Vista.

Didn't for me, crashed Explorer whenever I tried to open the C drive. Had to use the command box to rename it so I could delete it

Anybody know how to turn the "ding-dong" sound off that penetrates my earways every 15 minutes? I can't seem to find the giant red button for it.

                  Control Panel>Sound>Sounds tab

In there find the sound that's driving you nuts and use the pull down bar below it to select none.

i love Windows 7. Ive had Vista since it came out, and hated it. I found Windows 7 to be a huge improvement, and have no complaints. I love the taskbar and how you can pin things to it. I've had no problems with the search.

So I love it! But then again, I had 3 years of Vista....... how my laptop didnt end up thrown down the wooden stairscase, I don't know.

                    I also hate Explorer...........

I feel very hateful today....cuz I'm sick maybe???

Sorry, my love cannot be bought. And if it could, you obviously don't have enough in your account to do so.

Any chance you can figure out what program's actually making the noise? Just saying "something's going ding-dong every 15" doesn't help much. If you're running Win7 or Vista, you can open up the volume mixer, and at least that should give you a general idea of what it's coming from.

After looking through everything I finally found it. Turns out it wasn't windows.

Well? Ya gonna tell? Was the cat playing with the doorbell?

My aunt did does that cleaning my grandma's room. Picks up the button (we use it as a call button), and holds it down while she wipes down the table.

FYI there are several programs out that will bring back the classic start menu for Windows 7:

                                CS Menu (free) - http://www.csmenu.com/
Classic Windows Start Menu (free) - http://usuarios.multimania.es/coreaf...nstartmenu.htm
Windows 7 Classic Start Menu (free demo, $19.99 for full version) - http://www.classicstartmenu.com/

So at least one has several options if they desire to have the classic start menu. For the record I find Classic Windows Start Menu the best one to use. Requires a little elbow grease and a little work but its worth it if you desire to have the classic menu the way you want it.

Found another addon named Classic Shell. Its very solid and stable. Includes both the classic start menu and classic Windows Explorer. I'm only using the classic start menu as I got a far better Windows Explorer replacement in use named Directory Opus.

                                http://classicshell.sourceforge.net/

I'm only loving Windows 7 more and more by the day.
