Story the first...
My mother was getting the "non system Disk or Disk Error" message. Easy to diagnose, right?
Well, I was out and about when she called, and didn't call her back for a few hours. She then proceeds to yell at me that I "owe <her> a new computer!!"
Why? Because she didn't know what "non system disk..." meant, and formatted her HD some how or another, if I recall correctly. And somehow or another, since she was impatient, it was my fault that her computer was now not working, and therefore I owed her a new one.
Story the second...
I was back in my hometown for a football (American) game. My mother wanted to meet up after the game to have some post-game food.
So we meet at a burger place and eat. As my wife and I are walking back to my car, my mother calls me over to her car, and opens the trunk.
Inside is a computer.
She had supposedly promised some lady she worked with that I would reinstall her Windows OS. She didn't consult with me at all on this. Just a last minute thing.
My wife jumped in quickly and said we really didn't have a power outlet and the room to plug it in somewhere. So that didn't get done.
A few days later, I jokingly told my wife we should have taken the computer and installed Ubuntu Linux on it. My wife was like, "Well, that would have caused you more issues than it would have been worth."
Story the third...
Mom had a small network set up at her house once. And by "small network" I mean she had two computers connected to a router, connected to a modem.
Her (now ex) husband at the time would do various "things" to make it where mom couldn't get online.
So I told her on numerous occasions to "label the cables". Did she? Nope.
