  • problem with Thunderbird

All computers at work have Thunderbird for email. Whatever computer I'm near, I can check email on any of our accounts for accounting or incoming jobs or whatever.

One computer has a problem that started today. We get emails with PDF files from customers, and today the one computer (we use for our main 'artwork' station) is unable to open or preview or even save PDF files. The "save" button that appears at the bottom of the screen is even greyed out. We have figured out that if you "forward" the email, we're able to open the PDF in the "forwarded" outgoing message (before sending), but that's just inconvenient to have to do every time an email comes in.

And we can open the PDF's as normal on other computers.

And we can view and save JPG files as normal on the computer, so it's something with PDF's, I guess?

So that must mean that there's something wrong with the Thunderbird set-up on the one computer... right?

We're tried using the Help function in Thunderbird, and Googling the problem, and the only suggestion we've found was "change the Save As... to something else and back" and it didn't help.

Anyone see this before? Any hints?

Check the version of Thunderbird. I'm also wondering if you had Adobe installed at some point and it disabled Thunderbird's internal PDF handling. One fix might be to install Adobe.

Version of Thunderbird is up to date. The "Options" selection for PDF files is currently set for Adobe Acrobat Pro (not Reader).

There is that "The latest version IS the problem" thing. Good to hear they put out an update relatively quickly.
